This full featured radio is great for local communication. It surpassed my expectations tor range after being paired with a bit higher gain antenna. Audio quality is great, menus are easy to navigate. Like the adjustable squelch and background lighting options. Pairs great with our GXT1000 handhelds. Love the ability to talk between vehicles or from the home base to the handhelds or mobile units.

I bought this a few weeks ago and got it installed in my Tacoma. I hit a few trails with my buddies and the radio cams in really handy. I’ve used walkie talkies in the pass and it’s not as clear as the MXT. The controls on the mic is a great feature, I can change and adjust with one hand while still driving down the trails. Super easy install don’t have to hard wire it if you don’t want to, I have my plugged into the cigarettes lighter in the glove compartment so everything is hidden. Great product! User friendly.

This unit has a great form factor. Easy to find a place to install temporarily or permanently in almost any vehicle. The microphone with controls is great and more ergonomically fits my hand. I use to communicate with others on the trail, base camp and as emergency communication with family using handhelds. Excellent range as well with either provided antenna or extended range antenna. License is super easy to obtain online with ZERO testing required. This is the next “best” thing if you have no desire to get a HAM license. Highly recommended and purchasing additional devices.
