Just bought the MXT 275. What a great unit. To say installation was a breeze is an understatement. I’m truly impressed with how fast and easy it was to set up and use. I would recommend the MXT 275 radio for anyone wishing to have more power than a handheld but is tight on available cabin space.
Wanted to assemble an emergency "go kit" and this surely fit the bill. The small size, included magnetic antenna, and lighter socket power makes it a great choice. Having all controls on the mic means that will be the only thing you need to have your hands on when you need it. I might just buy a few more for the ones I care about.
I bought this one a few weeks ago and really love the microphone/speaker/button combo set up. This it allowed me to install a clean and hidden radio kit on my Tacoma and control everything with one hand basically without even looking. The base unit is velcro'd under my driver's seat and powered by the hidden console plug. The microphone comes up through the seat and sits on the side of the cup holder. I had trouble with the 3M tape on the microphone holster, but ended up using the three included screws meant to mount the base unit instead. Now it's definitely there for good. My only complaint is that the magnetic antenna isn't as nice as the lip-mount and stealth antenna that comes in other kits. I have to unscrew it for car washes and the magnet scratched up the paint as I was adjusting its location. Also, beware that MESO Customs Puddle Pods LED lights (or other LEDs) can interfere with the antenna if they are too close.
The radio volume and clarity otherwise its fantastic for road trips with friends using other walkies or radios. I haven't stretched the distance yet, but am excited to go out with friends using other big radios. Works well in a city and freeway setting, too. I liked the USB charger option because I was able to plug my phone charger into the base station after using the 12V plug spot, keeping everything basically the same in my cab.
