I recently went to a jeep show in PA and stop at the midland booth. We had been debating for 6 months on what to get. Well later that night ordered 2. And this past week on a trail ride with both my and my wife jeeps and no issues. My only regret was not buying all the accessories at original purchase. fixing that problem after this review.
This radio is good for when you have limited mounting areas or want to put it out of the way. I wish it had a regular USB on it (not the USB-C mini plug).
Used my Midland for the first time out off roading mid July 2021 in Western Sierras, I didn’t install until I was at the campsite, so easy to install! Speaker in Mic is loud enough to hear others while windows down and high rpm’s. So glad I bought it. Word of wonder… Midland (maybe others in GMRS world?) use a 1~22 channel range where the other members of the club used frequency (Ham?). The correlation was easy to find online which I need to find and print.
The Midland MXT275 is an excellent GMRS radio that has plenty of features. The size of the radio as well as the additional accessories available for it make it a breeze to install and easy to operate. I have been in the communications/installation business for many years and this is the first time I have seen a decent, small, GMRS radio in a handheld all-in-one design. The unit makes installation in the continuously shrinking interiors of vehicles extremely easy especially with the MXTA31 MICROPHONE EXTENSION CABLE which will allow you to remotely mount the radio portion of the unit.
The unit has the ability to provide audio via the hand mic, the radio base (where the hand mic connects to), or both at the same time. The audio to me appears to come off really well and doesn't have a (tinty) sound to it.
The keys on the hand mic are nice and responsive as well as providing good tactile feedback. The PTT (push to talk) button feels a little lite but it doesn't hinder or impair its function at all.
One of the nice items that it came with that I did not see in "included" items was an adhesive microphone clip/mount. So, if you are not into drilling into your vehicle that is an awesome option.
Overall, the radio is AWESOME and I would recommend it you won't be disappointed.
Bought couple of these for our offroading adventures, and they work very well. Range is good, and voice clarity even better, much more clear than CB. Would recommend for sure!
I bought this to install in my 3rd gen Toyota Tacoma. Installation was super easy even for a total novice like me. Pushed the antenna cable for my 6db whip through the firewall and used an add-a-circuit to power the base and everything is working really well. Very loud and quality speaker and mic, great range. Love that all the controls are in the hand mic.
