Poor performance

I bought 4 mxt275 to use around our 80 acre ranch. The antennas supplied with the radio are low quality and hard to communicate a couple miles away. They should include a better antenna for the price.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good entry level GMRS

The MXT275 is a good entry level GMRS which is compact and delivers good reception. The only downside is that it does not support dual tones. This limits the repeaters you can use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As of July, 2021 the MXT275 does support dual tones.

Purchased about a month ago and absolutely love it. Came from CB and this is worlds ahead of that. Love that you can stow the unit away behind the dash as all the controls are on the mic.

MXT275 is a great radio

I bought this radio months ago. It was a quick install in my RAV4, which doesn’t have much room for a bigger radio. The base of the unit is zip-tied under the driver seat and the mic clip is in an otherwise useless section of the shifter console. I ordered the Ghost 3db and MXTA26 6db gain antennas with the mag mount base. The Ghost is my daily and when I want more range I switch to the MXTA26. Great range with both.

I bought the MXT275 to use as a mobile radio in my car.
I also have a MXT400 as a home base station.
Using the MXT275 with its default small antenna (MXTA13), I was able to transmit and receive radio traffic to my indoor MXT400 w/N9TAX labs GMRS antenna from a distance of 3.5 miles.
This is very good considering there were many obstructions between the car and house.
I imagine my transmit distance with the MXT275 will be increased when I test it with the MXTA26 6DB whip antenna.
I also have a MXT400 as a home base station.

The MXT275 radio is very easy to use and easy to configure. I like that I can select to have the audio come through the base unit, the speaker mic, or both.
I have the base unit tucked away in my armrest console which makes it easy to conceal it when the vehicle is parked.
The only feature I would like to see added to the radio is the ability to "dual watch" or simultaneously monitor two channels. In this way, one can monitor a calling channel while using a separate channel for comms. This is not a dealbreaker as the MXT275 is a superb micromobile GMRS radio.
