I bought this radio after getting tired of having a CB in my Jeep and not hearing anyone. Those it would pick up sounded like it was coming out of a toy. When I turned it in for the first time I heard people talking immediately and they sounded great. I like the fact it was a fairly easy swap under my glove compartment. I also love the handset. The only negatives are the user interface is a bit quirky and I wish it had more power. Besides that I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

This radio fixed several problems from the older version.
1. It will do split tones for repeaters. That's a huge plus.
2. It now auto powers on when you start your car. This is also a huge plus.

Unfortunately it still does not display the tones so you will want to keep the manual so you know how to set it up for whatever repeater you are using.
Also it still has that 3.2 ounce weight in the mic. It's easy to remove but I wish they would ditch the weight and make the whole mic assembly 5mm slimmer.
It would be nice to have some memory files that you could program with a computer and give custom names.

Cleanest radio install!

This is the cleanest install I've ever done to my vehicles. The unit fits just behind and under the glove box and I connected a RJ45 cable extension with panel mount so the mic is stored while not in use. It's pared with the 6db antenna.
