Over priced Food Processor Wanna Be Doesn’t Deliver

I bought this last year, and have found it disappoints in so many ways! The slicing is alright, fast but limited in slice range. The dicing is a joke, you cannot dice so many things well that I have gone back to my trusty chef’s knife. As an example, I tried to dice firm tomatoes, and the machine produced mush. I tried to dice raw potatoes, and that wasn’t particularly successful either. First I had to trim the potatoes to fit into the feed tube, creating a good deal of waste. Then after dicing, so much potato lodged in the grill, even the pusher could not dislodge it. (Cleaning the diced was no picnic either.
For slicing, an adjustable slicer that varies from thin to medium is disappointing. Worse, everything has to fit tightly into the feed tube which means that a carrot has to be trimmed into pieces that will fit evenly into the feed tube side by side to avoid getting slices that vary in size as the carrot (or celery) fall sideways in the tube. The small tube doesn’t work for a large carrot, nor for a whole stalk of celery, which if too thin result in uneven slices.
Grating Parmesan cheese produced something I could as fast with less cleanup using my trusty hand crank rotary mouli grater!
The main blade is a toy. It’s thin, with thin, flimsy blades that make uneven pieces when processing. It does do a great job processing canned tuna, but so does a fork. The parsley and other herbs I’ve tried to process came out uneven, with some pieces as larger than my thumbnail because the leaves fly away from the blades, and stick to the top and sides of the work bowl. If parsley is a weird disaster, an onion is worse, as the results are also a very uneven mince with large and small pieces because the blade seems to hack at it, rather than sharply cutting. It produced something my old cuisinart would be ashamed to produce.
But the worst thing about it is its durability. I have only hand washed this, but now the work bowl locks with great difficulty because the plastic creates too much friction to move easily. It’s almost impossible to unlock the bowl before using it and then after using it. It sticks together as if glued. And forget about the paradice caddy. Within the first 2 months of using the machine, it stuck to the base with the processor parts so that I could not disassemble the machine myself in order to use it. My husband had to help remove the caddy, and the little plastic doohickey-tab that keeps the two caddies together for storage had broken off when we were hitting the top part as demonstrated in the video. The cubing unit and its caddy are sitting in a storage closet now, a testament to things that seem like a great idea, but in real life do not deliver. After my experience with this highly recommended machine, I will avoid overpriced kitchen tools by Breville.

I have had my Paradice 9 for a week and have put it through its paces. I am absolutely impressed. Grating cheese is a dream. I've had multiple food processors over the years and have yet to see one have so little remains left on the blade. It's quick, efficient, and powerful.
I just used the dicer on onions and I'm blown away how well it did. Yes, there were onion remnants left on the dicing grid even after using the press. That's OK. Onions are notorious for being a problem for any dicer. I was able to clean everything out if it and I've never had such an easy time dicing onions. The rotating "9" blade is better than I thought it would be. Is this food processor perfect? No, nothing is, but I definitely feel it is worth every penny paid for it. No wonder Breville food processors are so well regarded.
This product has exceeded my expectations (and they were high to start with). The Paradice 9 is a kitchen godsend and I am thrilled to have it in small appliance arsenal. I completed, in less than 30 minutes, what would have taken me hours to do manually. Yes, this item is expensive, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I certainly have and am very happy with it.

It came with nine different attachments to allow you to do just about anything you can think of, even kneeding dough. The attachments all fit neatly into a color coordinated storage unit that allows you to store the device and saves counter/ drawer space. I would recommend this processor to anyone looking for a better way to chop, dice, slice, or mince things. Great Product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is heavy duty! First thing I noticed out the package is that it does have some weight to it. So many appliances nowadays are very flimsy…but not this guy! It can do so many things! I used it for dicing fruit in a fruit salad. So annoying to cut up the little pieces by hand but it was super simple with the Breville Paradice 9 food processor. I have a lower quality food processor that is a wimp compared to this! It can also knead dough?! So awesome! Comes with a caddy to store all the necessary parts. Highly recommend!
