Have had it for about 2 weeks now. So far it is surpassed my expectations. The lights are bright. The image is clear. I do not have any subscriptions but have set it to record constantly by adding a 256MB.
Wyze's 1st attempt for a floodlight was decent in principle, yet lacking in physical, functional, and technical areas. Physically, the v1 floodlight gives you an impression of a decent floodlight simply having a Wyze v3 cam being bolted on as a prototype. Functionally, the v1 floodlight was bright yet the Wyze v3 cam didn't give enough information for actionable decisioning. Technically, the v1 PIR sensor sensitivity/detection/event recording vs Wyze v3 cam integration did not deliver results together as if being developed by 2 completely different, competing development teams.
The v2 directly addresses these 3 areas.
The v2 comes in a physical form factor that feels purpose built and fully baked vs the v1 being combined like Legos as a "try this out on the general public to fund the product development of what we're really trying to deliver". The 2 functionality is significantly improved than the v1 starting with the wider field of view for the camera all the way to how key event recordings are presented within the mobile app (assuming user has Cam Plus) within the camera view. From a technical perspective, the v2 has improved PIR sensor sensitivity detection to be more reliable, better than v1 event recording (still requires improvement), and more testing is required to determine when the PIR vs Wyze cam detection generates better detection individually vs integrated. Overall: No Brainier Upgrade.
Replaced the previous version of the wyze spotlight camera. This one has a better viewing range, brighter lights, but most of all fits better on the soffit.
