Easy to set up, works great, great price

After 3 years of owning the Q-See security camera system, I am finally tossing it in the trash after buying a Night Qwl DP2-161-4L system. Q-See was impossible to set up, could never get it connected to my internet, never could view the cameras on my t.v., and customer service was non-existent. I wasted hours trying to get it working correctly. This past October I bought a new Q-See DVR and it never worked properly and I am still waiting on an e-mail message that I sent them 3 weeks ago. I am done with that company.
Two nights ago I bought the Night Owl DP2-161-4L and tonight I decided to try setting it up and it was basically flawless.
I followed the layout work instructions, downloaded the Night Owl Protect app to my S8 phone, scanned the DVR code, and it set itself up on my phone fairly easy.
The only setback that I had is I completed the firmware update and I had to work through a few extra steps to get my phone set back up. Once I completed this I had to access the visual on my t.v. and go to DVR menu, Maintain, System, and select "Reset Default". Once this was done, the system reset itself. I then logged into my account and reset all the choices that I made before the firmware update. I then went to my phone app and re-scanned my DVR, and the system reset itself and I had connectivity again.
I can hardly believe how easy the Night Owl system is compared to Q-See. Never again, I am staying with Night Owl. Thanks!

Great setup, easy install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed this using an existing PoE system by purchasing some adapters and it’s working great. I didn’t want to piecemeal a PoE setup together like I had originally done at our house so now I have the DVR and cameras all working together and it’s a game changer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this system about a month ago and the weather was perfect for installation. I have to admit that I had a previous system that was another brand that was no longer working. Having that system allowed me to switch the lines really easily and replace the cameras. So set up for me was only about 1.5 hours. That being said, if you had to run all new lines and set it up from the start shouldn’t take you more than a couple hours. It is super easy and the step by step directions walk you through it. I quickly learned this system is much better than my previous system. Not to mention my other system did not have an app to use my phone with. The quality of the video are much better. I travel a lot for work and this system give me the freedom to be out there knowing my family is safe and I can access it from anywhere I am. Super excited to have this and would recommend to anyone looking for a security system like this.

loving night owl system

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my new security camera system, my oldest son and I installed these, and if you need help anytime of day or night just call the help line. No need to worry about the set up, they help 100 percent. I can see around my home clearly even at night, I am so at ease while going to work now. I have had this up for about month and everything working great and I do plan on investing in more night owl to surround my whole house. Well worth it. Wish I had done this yrs earlier.

Excellent First

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So.. .a long story made as short as possible. This is my husband's and I first ever camera for ho e security either outdoor or indoor. 12 Channel 4K DVR with 1 TB HDD and 4 x 4K Wired Light Cameras is the system that we set up. It is most definitely not as hard as we made it to set up. The fact is him and I can't even make a ham sandwich together LoL. Anyways it's a pretty cool system. Almost easy to install (depending on who you have help you), very easy to use after installation, and quite cool. I mostly use it to watch the wildlife in my yard at night or daytime and it's quite easy....actually I spend far too much time wating what these cameras show me. And I know it's probably not relevant but my favorite things to watch on the dvr is this Coopers Hawk I named Nancy and these two Great Horned Owls (no names for them!) Who are natural enemies. I love the detail and colors of the videos from the dvr I get to watch of what goes on and is happening on my property. And it's so easy to access the cameras feed!

Love this security

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This system was pretty easy to install, if you have DIY experience. The recordings are very clear. It is easy to navigate the app and check on things while away. The hard drive has alot of storage space which is an added bonus. The cameras are holding up well in the hot/cold/rain etc. I love the motion activated spotlights for when I come home after dark! I do not have to remember to turn lights on before I leave! There are no monthly fees with this system, and your hard drive stores recordings. One time fee to purchase. You can buy more cameras and expand up to 12 cameras as well if you need more. Must have system.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the fact that it has so much memory. It has a very clear picture. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends. Totally worth it.

Game Changer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Night Owl system is great. Only took me about an hour to install the whole system. It consists of 4 wired cameras and the 1tb DVR. Video quality is amazing during the day, very little false alarms due to the human tracking feature. It does an amazing job knowing the difference of a person, car, animal, and shadows from the sun changing. My old system would get tons of false alarms because of the lighting changing through out the day. This system is easy to use, the interface on the DVR is easy to navigate around, and the mobile app works very well too. It's put together nicely. Cameras work very well at night too. I get better color in darker lighting then my old system and the night vision is amazingly clear. I can rest at night knowing I have a great system watching over my property and family while we are sleeping or away from home. If you are looking for a security system, don’t hesitate to get this one. The DVR is expandable to 12 cameras which is more then you’ll ever need. I’m am extremely happy with this Night Owl system, having the 4K Resolution is a game changer, and a must have. The detail is incredible. Love it. Very happy with this system!
