Good Video, App needs work

These were an upgrade to an older Night Owl System so installation was a breeze as basically I just changed the cameras and the DVR. The video is nice and the ability to do human vs vehicle vs face detection is very helpful at cutting down false alerts that you used to get from the "pixel change" motion alerts of the older systems.
My biggest gripe with this product is the app. It's slow to load, and some of the features for iOS don't work.
-For example the do not disturb function is hit or miss as I set a time only to fin out that it does not work.
-There is no snooze function for motion, so you have to turn off notifications if you are going to be in an area outside for a while, be prepared to be constantly bombarded with notifications.
-The sound warnings, while effective are all or nothing. They constantly go off when motion is around and repeat the same phrase over and over. Would be nice to have a chirp option that let's someone know there are cameras but does not constantly shout out Smile you are are being recorded.
-It would also be nice if there was greater integration into the smart home universe. For example, IFTTT integration would be amazing such that you could trigger lights to come on inside the home if a human is detected, etc. None of that is possible currently.

Bad design, many features missing from old systems

Recently purchased one of these new 4K systems. I had a 5 year old 1080P system and thought I would upgrade. Will return as basic features that did exist no longer do. Expected it to be better quality video and add and enhance features from the older application. Not the case. Although the video recording quality seems good, the system is now missing basic features such as being able to record audio. My old system had 2 audio recording channels connected directly to audio cameras. I had an audio camera in the front and rear of my home. New system has no audio recording or playback although sales description have wireless cameras states recording of audio. does not make sense. System only seems to be able to Export video based on "Events". Old system I could set a start and end time for exporting. Sometimes small movements are not part of an Event and the recording of sound would also not be an event but you may want to export with the sound just for timeframe of sound. Have given videos to the police multiple times. Cannot give up that feature. Only reason for "Continuous" recording a channel would be to be able to export a range of time and for sound. Strange that an "Upgrade" would result in less basic features than previous very old systems. Not sure who designs these and decides what features. Time to go elsewhere

Bad resolution not 4K

I bought this security system in January 2022 hoping that would be a great upgrade to replace my night owl 5.0 which was a HD and 5 mp cameras but after installing my new 4K 8mp cameras I realized that the resolution quality was poor and you can’t make adjustments in your cameras like brightness, contrast, color and zoom is a complete joke, glitches in the image are constant, I’m really disappointed!

Easy setup

I have had a few night owl systems and this one was the quickest easiest setup so far. The bluetooth interface seems to work flawlessly. It has the clearest resolution of any camera I have previously had. My only issue keeping me from a full 5 star review is while viewing on a monitor there is no way of disabling the onscreen icons, which are very annoying. All my other night owl products had a section in the menu to disable those but this has a very basic menu and doesn’t offer that as an option.

Good upgrade

I upgraded from the old 1080p system to the 4K and it is a significant improvement. Not only is resolution 4 times better but the night vision is much brighter, the lens angle is wider, and the Night Owl Protect app is significantly better than the old app. The added refinements make this system so much better

Unreliable System

The cameras disconnect from the DVR frequently regardless if they are one room away from the system or across the building. Their application to view the cameras is buggy and will not connect to the system half the time

I will never buy night owl again. And ive been using them since 2016. My 720 and 1080p cameras, and the old dvr are way better then these 4k. I'm so disappointed. Haven't had them for a year and the cameras are already having problems. The new dvr is useless. I don't understand why you guys took all the best features and got rid of them. I'm so mad i can't even explain all the problems I've encountered within the last 9 months.
