Perfect for My setup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great bedroom TV. I play non-competitive, story driven games primarily on both XBOX and PS5 but intend to use with PC in the near future. This is just the right size for gaming at a desk. For movie watching I'd definitely get a soundbar but I find that true for any TV. The settings gave me a lot of room to tweak the picture to my liking. The game mode worked best for PS5 but for XBOX my tweaked standard settings made me much happier. Streaming through Prime and Netflix was outstanding. YouTube content varies but alot of that is just YouTube compression. It's still good. It's definitely bright enough and I live in Florida so, no problems with that. All in all, great tv. I only kept it at 4 stars because the magic remote can be a bit finicky and requires a bit of getting used to. I did have to tweak the settings quite a bit to get it where I wanted and I wish they would be given the newer processor from the G4 to the C4 line.

I Am In Gamer Heaven!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I mainly bought this TV for gaming on my PS5 and I couldn't be more happy with my purchase! The colors and blacks are amazing. I really like the Game Bar for when playing games. The different presets like FPS, RPG, and others allow me to customize each genre of games that I enjoy playing. And the 120Hz in WarZone is a game-changer! WarZone runs so smoothly in 120Hz with VRR, all of the little micro-stutters are gone for the most part.
So far I have only watched one movie, Avatar: The Way Of Water, and it also looked amazing! I felt like I could reach right into the TV and touch the actors.
I highly recommend if you are a console gamer!

Versatile TV with Excellent Picture Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this tv at a very good price. Price to performance cannot be beat. With the proper settings, picture quality is excellent with rich colors and inky blacks. I was surprised at how well the built in tv apps worked. The tv will be dual purposed as a tv for my study as well as a second computer display. Could not be happier.

Happy with my purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a regrettable 2022 purchase of an economical, but well arrayed and reviewed 4K TV, I decided to bite the bullet and sacrifice size for quality. I did deep dive research for days and chose the LG OLED42C4. Thoughts: 1) I found the Settings fiddly, but it’s a process. It took several days, a number of Google, YouTube, and forum searches, and a couple of chats with LG Support to get it set to my liking. The onscreen descriptions for each setting were helpful. 2) TV manufacturers and Streaming services put their own agendas ahead of what users want in Home Screens, so we live with the presentation of what they want to market to us. I was able to clean this one up to a tolerable level. It’s universal, not likely to change, end of story. 3) LG replaced the screen saver with a screen “Move” option I’m not sure I trust, yet. Maybe I’ve read too much about burn-in. 4) The LG OLED picture quality makes my 2022 TV purchase even sadder. 5) After two weeks to settle in, I know I bought the right TV and I’m happy with my purchase. NOTE: I did briefly second guess my decision to not buy the 48” version. For most people, I’d recommend it. It’s a personal issue, though, as I always found the blank, black, rectangle of my former 50” (appropriately sized,) TV intimidating. I’m not a gamer or sports fan and the 42” feels “friendlier” and suits me better. There may not be a lot of us, but I believe there’s still a market for higher quality TVs that down own the room with their size.

Still the king of PC monitors in 2024
on July 16, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re looking for a large format high resolution OLED display to use as a PC monitor there are only a few options (though the number is slowly growing) and the 42” C series is still the best of the bunch. Gaming is incredibly immersive and it doubles as a productivity monster. There are some issues with text clarity, but workarounds exist and I find it very usable with a few tweaks.
My main complaint is the stagnating peak brightness on the 42” model as it has had minimal increases since the C2 version. Full screen brightness has definitely improved and the ABL seems to be a non-issue on the C4 in my day to day work.
Overall I’ve been very impressed and find it unlikely I’ll go back to a standard monitor after using a panel of this size.

A wonderful upgrade to OLED from my old TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love using this tv on the reg for gaming. The refresh rate and details are absolutely beautiful. The Dolby Vision and Atmos support is icing on the cake whenever I pull up a movie and watch it, because watching content feels like a treat. It may be a smaller tv but it is surely mighty!
