Flimsy

The shelf is thin metal that slants down in front over time with only a dvd player and cable box on it. The 2 brackets are also weak and lose their 90 degree angle. The result is the components slide down and may fall off or be inaccessible. We rescued it by replacing the bent brackets with strong ones from the hardware store.

The shelf works perfectly. For us it holds a sound bar and could also hold an XBox if we so chose. Installation was easy, but note that you will want to take the TV off of the lift to install.

This new version uses 6 very small spot welds to hold the heavy bottom bracket on the shelf. All the spot welds broke when I was putting it on so I had to return it. Very cheaply made I would not trust it holding the TV components on the shelf. The manual shows an older version with multiple screws holding the bottom bracket which looks much more sturdy, but they do not seem to offer that version anymore...apparently they are trying to save money.

I was replacing an older shelf which was much better built - it had some sturdiness to the shelf itself and the frame that holds it. The current one has nuts and bolts that would hold a tank. Angle brackets that are so flimsy that you can bend with your hand, an attachment to shelf that does not sit properly, and a shelf that is “thin” sheet of metal that I was afraid to put my Directv box on because it bent. These were my observations after installing it. I will not have to strengthen the unit with better bracket and probably add a layer of thicker metal to stabilize the shelf to keep it from bending.
