Excellent dryer - better than vented

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent dryer. I bought a new house last year with a very long and very elbowed vent duct. My old LG couldn't properly vent and kept erroring, and a booster fan I installed stopped working randomly one weekend. I was a little skeptical of switching to ventless, but needed to since my home duct is just too long.
I am very pleased with this LG. It gets my clothes completely dry in the same amount of time (and sometimes less time) as my old dryer. Granted I am coming from a poor ventilation system so shorter for me might not be shorter for everyone depending on how fast your old dryer was.
This gets all the laundry for my house of 4 done in a single day without issue. The clothes are perfectly dry - not even a bit of dampness. Even jeans - which used to always have a few damp spots - are completely dry.
Operation is simple, the settings are intuitive, and you can control via an app.
The only negative is that the laundry room heats up quite a bit while this is running. Turning on the laundry room vent fan takes care of the issue, and extra heat in the winter will be a welcome bonus.

I've had this for a year now and adore it. Works flawlessly, saves energy, is quiet and fancy and awesome. You can change the image on the screen and music it plays when it finishes a load, sooo many settings to choose from, works efficiently, clothes come out dry. Has wifi alerts, knows the type of dry setting to use based on my wash... It's my favorite dryer ever.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 7.8 cu. ft. Dual Inverter Heat Pump ventless Electric Dryer with Direct Drive Motor, 6 Motion and AI Sensor Dry in White is is a high tech Dryer. It has Wifi set up so you can operate remotely. This function I have not used yet but it could be used if you left before it stopped and then before you get home you can start it to wrinkle free your clothes before you get home to pull them out. Man, if they can now only get it to unload and hang up the clothes. Joking beside, I find this unit to be very good at this time. We have ran about seven loads through and it dries them very well. It is ventless which I have never had before. It recirculates the heat in dryer to dry clothes. It has not heated up our laundry room which surprised me. Also a surprise was that there is a small hose for letting the water out of the dryer while working. It just drains into the existing washer drain area. Same plug system as my old one so no major electrical work needed. This unit has many settings and you can chose the option feature to change setting to what you want as far as number of cycles and temp or you can just use the preset ones. Also, make note that this unit has 3 filters. The main inside filter which you clean after every use, it also has a small addition filter inside the main one that will need cleaning every time as well it is not hard. There is one called the outside filter screen which is really on the inside with the main one and it is in the same hole as the main one. Once you pull out the main one you can pull on a small tab and the outside one will come out. The outside one only needs to be cleaned approximately every ten uses. So far a really nice machine and is large enough for all our large loads. I would recommend. I kept trying to find something I did not like about it but can't seam to find anything.

Great dryer except for the door...
on July 6, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The position of the wash room in our house left us with terrible outside ventilation for the dryer. For years I had been waiting on the right ventless dryer to catch up with the technology. This was it! In researching the capacity and dry times (we knew it would be longer, but better than the clogged ventilation situation was giving us), we felt the quality with LG was there. So we took a chance.
A few months later, we like it but not love it. What keeps us from withholding our love? The door pops open in the middle of the drying session ALL THE TIME. I will tell you that the drying times are way shorter than advertised for the usual ventless dryer; we love that. It's usually half the time of what's posted on the dryer screen. But there hasn't been a dryer session yet where I didn't have to stop what I was doing to close the door and resume it.
I'm hoping that I can work with LG to get this fixed. If I can, then I would rate it a double five-star!

Great dryer-- poor installation manual!
on July 2, 2025

We debated getting this hybrid dryer carefully. It has exceeded our expectations! The one problem we had, which I hope you can avoid if you get it, is that the installation/owner manual is missing critical information. This meant I took hours trying to figure out why the dryer poured water on our floor after getting professional installation. More on this, and how to avoid this problem, below. First the key pros and cons:
Pros: -- On testing it uses about half the electricity of our old, conventional (LG) dryer to dry a load of laundry. -- Clothes come out in better shape with fewer wrinkles. --Much gentler on fabrics-- we can dry wool socks without shrinkage and less lint production. --Very quiet. --AI setting really works to get mixed types of clothing consistently dry. --Doesn't need a vent
Cons: -- More expensive. --Problematic manual.
Here is the manual and installation problem. There are two drain ports on the back of the dryer. The obvious one (with grey plastic housing) is supposed to remain capped. Our installer put the drain hose on this. The result was about a quart of water on our floor as the dryer ran. The manual does not identify these two ports on diagram of the dryer, and there is no labeling on the dryer. This is especially problematic because this is a new type of dryer that installers are not familiar with. There are multiple posts (e.g. on Reddit and it's noted in some of these reviews) about this problem but LG doesn't seem to have done anything to fix it, which does reflect well on LG. I am going to try to post a picture of the port by the grey block-- this should remain capped. Look to the left for a port at the very bottom of the dryer-- this is where the drain hose should go. The manual doesn't cover this issue under troubleshooting, so don't hope for help there.

Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed, and helpful revie, it’s fantastic to read how well the dryer is performing for you. Hybrid dryers are still newer for many installers, and your feedback highlights an important area where our manuals and diagrams need improvement. We’ll be sure to pass this along to the team so we can work toward clearer guides in the future! ^Jose

Amazing dryer and it's so energy efficient!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this dryer sight unseen because I wanted a large capacity heat pump dryer. Waited over 2 months for it to arrive (nobody stocked them at that point). I am amazed with this dryer! It uses less than half the energy our 7 year old traditional dryer used. Sometimes it's closer to 1/4 of the energy. It's quiet, ventless, and super easy to use. We use the AI setting for almost everything. My only hesitation is that it does take longer to dry. What could previously be dried in 60-75 minutes often takes 120 now. But even with the added time, it's still extremely more energy efficient. FYI, I've been using it for over 4 months as of writing this.

Exceeds expectations!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited but also anxious about trying a heat-pump dryer. It takes ~50% longer to dry versus my vented dryer. Ex- 45min to dry sheets versus 30min. It does so using about a third of the energy- a worthy tradeoff. One unique note is that it takes this dryer longer to warm up. ex) a 20-minute "refresh" cycle gets clothes warm, not hot. The lint filter is definitely my least favorite part of the dryer. It's different than any dryer I've ever used before. There are 2 folding filters that I've resorted to vacuuming, as the filter is so fine it's difficult to clean by hand. I also didn't realize I was going to have to wash the filters with water every ten cycles. I do a lot of laundry so I end up doing that about once a week. I watched a ton of videos talking about how clothes feel damp coming out of heat-pump dryers; I've only experienced that while using "AI Dry." Normal gets everything as dry as a vented dryer. If efficiency is a priority for you, this is the way to go; I have no regrets and appreciate the longer warranty period for an unproven (in the U.S.) product.

Awesome dryer, better than vented!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent dryer -- the additional cycles are amazing, as is the ventless capability. Bedding dries with ease, thanks to the ability of the dryer to go in different directions and speeds.
The issues with this dryer, for me, were from installers. The dryer door is an installer issue -- they often use belts to lift the dryer, and torque them across the door. LG tells you not to do this (the door on this model has a very tight seal) and it will cause the door to slightly warp. The good news is that it goes right back to normal after a few cycles -- if your door pops open, do a few loads of super wet sheets (which will be long cycles) --3 usually does it (did it for me) with a padded chair to keep the door closed. By the time the repair person arrived, the issue was gone.
Other issue is that installers don't read -- they will often attempt to attach the drain pipe to the wrong port on the back of the dryer. Two look very similar. LG puts a sticker to indicate the right one but usually the helper on the truck rips off all the tags -- and given most of these folks don't bother to read -- can be an issue. If it gets hooked up to the wrong one you'll end up with water all over the floor. Check the LG YouTube channel for a short video that shows how to install and which one is correct. I had it on my phone to show them so this wasn't an issue.
