Fun build and Nice Display

I am just getting back into Lego as an adult and have been trying everything to see what I like. I bought this set because I like the way it looks and wanted to see how they achieved the detail. I have built a few other animals and have enjoyed them, this one is really nice though. Early on in the process I wasn't sure I liked it, it is very technical looking and you don't get into the pretty stuff until you have the base built. Then it gets really fun. I like the colors and making the water in the base was fun and challenging - lots of translucent pieces, but rewarding. The final product is really nice and if they release more birds like this I will definitely buy them.

Great display, challenging at times

When they say this is for age 18+ builders, they mean it. This set is not for the impatient and easily frustrated. You need to pay attention while building this and attaching each section of the bird is a bit fragile. That said, once complete, this is a stunner to look at. Beautiful shaping, and very unique. I hope LEGO will make more sets of beautiful birds at this level of detail.

As a bird person, got this as a gift from my partner and we built it together instantly! Great build and super nice realistic bird display set. Also, not a big issue but as an Icon set, there should be attention to detail, where the manual markets the set as an Azure Kingfisher when the pictures and set actually represent a Common Kingfisher. But all and all a great set that I would highly recommend to your nature/lego lovers!

I'm late to the game purchasing and building this set and I only bought it because, it was on sale. I never would have purchased it at full price. Funnily, I made more simple mistakes building this than I did with Starry Night and Sunflowers. But when I did finally complete this, I really liked the overall look of the bird flying from the water surface with catch in beak. The water effects, for a brick build, are really good. I saw a video on the durability and will make sure this build does not fall, because it would definitely be a hassle rebuilding it.

incredible build

honestly, this is one of my two or three favorite builds of all time. the set itself looks incredible in person (honestly, the photos don't do it justice). and the build is just incredibly fun. multiple new (to me) building techniques, great colors, incredibly clever use of elements (like the pagoda roof plates giving a splashing water effect), all the while being reasonably priced and a good size (not small but not so big that it's overwhelming to start). building the water could have been a little tedious, but honestly given that the water effect is so cool it didn't feel tedious at all. incredible set all around.
