At the outset it is pretty expensive but compared to another ultrasonic (diff manufacturer) which was ~ 1/5th the price, the Philips one (HX 9903/15) has advantages. It is better designed and allows changing the modes while motor is off (smart), is gentler on the gums and teeth (the cheaper alternative chattered worrisomely!) and seems to clean and remove plaques and stains better. The phone app is fine but a bit of hassle to use. After a few times, once the technique is properly mastered it loses its value. Although it might be still useful for occasional refreshers and to keep tab on the brush-head wear. The extra chips in the head naturally jack up the price of brush heads but I guess one gets what one pays for. I am not planning to use it with cheaper non OEM brush-heads for a few years probably. Some reviews expressed some concerns about quality and functionality of the buttons etc but with 2+ years warranty (remember to register for extended warranty!), seems a safe bet. Users must read the manual and put the unit through its paces to fully utilize the many options and fine nuances. The whitening function is okay but would not replace regular visits to your dental hygienist for thorough cleaning and check-ups! Compared to a manual toothbrush, it would be a short but steep learning curve, but it does make your brushing a more mindful activity and that would be a bonus, anyday! Users should not hesitate to use the brush for touch-ups if the programmed 2 or 3 minute do not seem enough some day. If holding and maneuvering the brush properly one quickly gets the hang of it without the unit slipping from the nimble grip required. Use only a small dab of the toothpaste to avoid messy brushing! :-)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used Sonicare toothbrushes for years. This new one had 6 brushing timer segments instead of the 4 in all of my other brushes. It’s taken some getting used to. Otherwise same great toothbrush!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with my toothbrush. It's the second diamond care that I have purchased and my fourth toothbrush.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The brush does a good job of cleaning my teeth. I don't like the 6-8 segment pacer - it's too much to keep track of. I prefer the prior version that just timed 4 segments.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the brush size and shape. The gum care brush is my go too. I went from oral B to Philips. Did not like the round oral B brush.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used Sonicare for many years. However, my Sonicare was getting old, and I wanted to replace it with a newer model. I chose the Sonicare 9000 and I'm very happy with its performance. I love the additional modes and 3 clean strengths which augments my particular oral needs. Thank you Sonicare for making a terrific product.
