We bought the cooktop back in the summer. First, I’d like to say that induction cooking is amazing. I have a few issues with this cooktop in particular, but none of those issues are around the actual induction cooking process.
The cooktop Heats up quickly. It works well with pots and pans that are designed for induction. Only major issue I had with the unit was when we first got it, one set of the burners didn’t work and it took a long time to get those fixed. With the money we spent to get a Viking and the brand recognition I would assume that the cooktop should work from the very beginning. My issues with the cooktop in general have to do with its design and color scheme. Unfortunately, when buying the cooktop, none of the places had an actual example of it. Also, there are zero videos online anywhere with this model cooktop. If I saw the cooktop in person or online, I probably would not have purchased it. If I could see it in action I definitely would not have purchased it. The two issues that I have are that it’s hard to tell where the cook area is as it’s all dots. Big dots and small dots and when you’re cooking with something that’s not see-through it can be difficult to hit the center of the cooking area. The second issue I have is the bridging functionality again. It goes back to these dots. Hitting the right area for bridging can be very difficult and a lot of times I find that the inside or outside isn’t heating because I’ve missed the heating elements either in the back or the front. The last issue I have with the unit, which is probably the issue I dislike the most is the blue control panel. If you have a light on above your cooking area, which we do, it can be very hard to see this blue digital font. When you are cooking and the cooking oil is splattering it covers right over that blue font so you can’t see it so you need a towel with you the whole time wiping down the stove top so you can see the control panel. Sometimes you have to turn the light off while cooking to see the panel.
If I understood the issues that this unit had from the beginning, I would never have purchased it. I think for the reasons mentioned, it’s very hard to find a working display or videos online.
This is not a good review and I do not recommend this cooktop.
