I had purchased this as a replacement after our last one started leaking after 7 years of service.
The seal gasket between drain portion and the motor portion had failed and with the water on the internals and rust, we elected to replace with the same model and size so I would not have to rework the plumbing. Overall this series has performed well for our small kitchen duty. I'd had rated higher had I been able to actually service my previous one but with the excessive rusting that had occurred over a couple months we elected to replace.

So far, so good. My disposal quit, so KitchenAid was the brand the repairman recommended and brought with him. At first look, he thought it looked like the problem was the plumbing and he could not do the repair. Then he saw a split in the body of the old one, dismantled it, to find the output was blocked, likely with onion peelings. I had no idea onion peelings were not okay to put into a disposal! I had just the day before made a soup with 2 onions and with butternut squash. I did not put the squash peelings down, but I did put the onions down. I encourage everyone to read up on what to NOT put down a disposal and post it for yourself. I did not know egg shells blocked them either. Avoid fibrous vegetables, banana, anything stringy. I have only had this disposal for a week, so it is a bit early to review the longevity.

I replaced a 14 year old whirlpool 1/3 HP with this a few weeks ago. This was a simple replacement and it does a great job grinding up all we've put down it so far. It's clearly more powerful but more quiet than the old one.

Although disappointed it was not made in the USA, it is a huge improvement over the previous unit used and lives up to the KitchenAid reputation of providing dependable and quality products.

But this because our other brand was 10 years old. Good thing we bought this. The other one was leaking due to installer turned it too tight cracking old one. Slow leak before and very noise. Not now though.
