Hello GB49. Thank you for choosing Greenworks Tools for your lawn care needs! We would love to hear what you think of the 1800 PSI pressure washer when you have a chance to use it a few times. In the meantime, here are some tips we'd like to share with you to ensure longevity of the unit. Keep the nozzles cleaned. To clean the nozzles, soak all your nozzles in a half and half mixture of warm water and white vinegar. Soak all the nozzles for about an hour and then proceed to poke your nozzle cleaning tool or paper clip through the end of the nozzle hole to poke out any debris. After you have done this, rinse them with warm water. Your nozzles will now be free of any obstructions causing the unit to malfunction. Bleed the unit. Purge any excess air from the pump. Set up the unit as per usual and ensure you are not using an extension cord. Remove any nozzle that may be connected at the end of the wand. Make sure that you have a green light on the GFCI on the power cord. Turn your garden hose on but leave the pressure washer turned OFF. With the pressure washer turned off, squeeze on the trigger for about 3 minutes – allowing the water to run through the unit at no pressure. In doing so, you are bleeding the unit out of any air that may be stuck in the pump. After 3 minutes, turn the unit on. If it is running, reinstall one of your clean nozzles and continue using the unit. Ensure that the water source is fully opened and is at least 45PSI. There should be 10' of unrestricted garden hose between the hose connection and the unit, any kinks will prevent the flow of water going into the unit and prevent proper pressure.
When storing your pressure washer over the winter or for longer than 30 days, make sure it will be ready for your next cleaning project. Your manual will have specifics. Here are some general procedures:
• Store the pressure washer in a dry area, protected from freezing temperatures and other extreme weather. • Keep it away from heat sources that could dry out the pump seals. • Use a pump lubricant/antifreeze. A pump protector is liquid Anti-Freeze formulated to prolong the life of your pressure washer; the product can be found at most hardware stores. If you cannot do the Optimum Winterizing procedure, you can still protect your pressure washer from winter damage by disconnecting all water connections. Turn on the machine for a few second, until the remaining water in the pump exits. Turn off immediately. • Do not allow high-pressure hose to become kinked. • Store the machine and accessories in a room that does not reach freezing temperatures. We hope these tips help and we look forward to your follow-up review.
