long story short i am a professional wood worker and was in a pinch and had to purchase a electric chain saw. I was very skeptical at first because of the low price. We had to make several cuts into very dry cedar logs rising and cross cutting ant it did an amazing job. Could not have been happier!

In reviewing this 14 inch, 8 amp, electric, corded WORX chainsaw, let me begin by saying that I have one very specific use for this tool, and that is to crosscut pieces of already split firewood that are about 16-18 inches long to make them about half their length. I bought this chainsaw so that I could continue cutting the firewood while I'm reconditioning my other similarly sized electric, corded chainsaw, which needs a new or sharpened chain and possibly a new bar. That being said, I needed something that would do this rather simple cutting task, and this WORX electric chainsaw has done pretty well. It's a bit lighter than my other chainsaw (both are made of a lot of plastic), and perhaps because of that it tends to buck a bit more when cutting thinner, lighter pieces of wood, particularly when I'm cutting at the free end of a piece that is being held by a metal-framed log holder. If the wood isn't anchored in absolutely solidly, the saw can't cut it due to the increased vibrations and gyrations the chainsaw causes the wood to go through and makes the pieces come loose and flap about. I'm not even sure its light weight is the issue, however, and it is nice that the machine is not so heavy and tiring to use. Additionally, the chain has come off during a few sessions, but this chainsaw is so simply designed that it wasn't any problem at all to figure out how to go about resetting the chain and retightening it with the automatic chain tensioning device. I'm pretty sure my other chainsaw will be more challenging as I try to take it apart and replace parts. With my new WORX chainsaw and new sharp chain in action, I'm relying mainly on the weight of the machine and gentle pressure to do the cutting for me, and it's doing a fast and fine job of cutting right through pieces of red oak that are in general 5-7 inches in thickness. Chain and bar oiling are done manually by pressing a rubber cap that pushes oil to the chain and bar between cuts. Overall, keeping in mind the relatively light task I'm asking this chainsaw to do (no felling of trees, relatively small diameters of pieces to be cut, generally short periods of cutting with few repetitions, etc.), it's doing pretty well. I enjoy its simple design and do not anticipate maintenance to be much of a problem. At $50, I think it's a pretty good value, but I haven't used it for a very long time yet (about eight weeks so far) so I can't comment on durability, reliability, and overall quality at this point, but so far, so good. Stay tuned!

As my trees are getting larger I need something easier to use than a pruning saw to thin out the branches. I didn't want to use gas powered saws. I would have preferred to use battery powered but the technology isn't there yet. Since I have about 5 trees and they are close to the house, electric is a good alternative until a battery model arrives.
Worx products are reliable and rugged. A good quality product.
Customer support, when you need it, is excellent.

Great Little Saw

I bought this saw after my old gas saw died, and I'm glad I decided on this small model. As an occasional user I don't need a big heavy expensive chainsaw for cleaning up limbs around the yard. This 14" saw is lightweight, but has plenty of power to do what I need. With an 8 amp motor I could still use my 100 foot extension cord without needing a heavier one.
Most recently, I came home one windy night last month to find a large limb blocking the driveway. I wasn't sure how well this would work since the limb was almost as big as the chain bar. Well, I didn't need to worry! This little saw made quick work of my problem limb, and I was done and cleaned up in an hour.
I bought the 8.0 amp WORX14 inch chainsaw to use in my yard to remove some small shrubs. Imagine the power I felt when I used it for the first time I'd ever used a chainsaw. I threw the chain off after about 15 minutes because I hadn't tighten it enough before using. I was able to put the chain on by myself without anyone else's help. Being able to do the work I want was so fulfilling. Watch me as I build my tools up with more WORX tools.(I already have the blower/mulcher vacuum and I love it). By the way, I am a 5'4" lady weighting 145 lbs. who is 65 years old.
Bought a couple of months ago and used it to prune limbs less than 6" in diameter. While trimming one tree, the more dead branches we removed it became obvious the tree was dead. Although the diameter at the trunk was about 15" we said what the heck and carefully cut down the tree. We dulled the blade when removing the stump because we kept hitting the dirt. New blade and good as new.
