We were excited by our new grill - it was replaced a ten + year old Spirt grill. The heft and overall quality of the Genesis line was impressive. However, several issues arose and we returned the grill. The first is that it was damaged -- one of the flanges on the handle was badly broken. It arrived missing several parts - a heat diffuser (favorizer bar) and the grease collection pan. Weber customer service sent it replacement parts very quickly. But the persistent problem was that the electronic lighter did not work. The battery was fine, it produced a spark, but it would not ignite the gas. The gas flow was fine - it could light with a match. Finally there were large gaps on either side of the grill that permitted rain to flood the storage cabinet beneath the grill body including filling the grease trap. All in all we decided to return the grill to the retailer before we ever used it.
We replaced it with a new Spirit - E-425. Which is very nice, the difference in weight and finish of the two are obvious - but the Spirit's ignition system works, all parts were here and it was undamaged. Unlike the old Spirit which did not take on rain - the new Spirit does have a gap in the back of the cabinet that allows the rain is. So a cover will be required for this model.

I have been waiting a month to get a resolution to my grill blowing up in my face for a resolution from Weber and Ace Hardware. Just delays and excuses, not to mention the subtle insinuation that I did something wrong even though i didn't build the grill as Ace Hardware did.

I purchased this unit and found the assembly to be straightforward. The only thing that would have improved the experience would be having identifying stickers on more of the components. While the photos in the manual were good, there is always room for improvement, though it wasn’t difficult to put together at all.
I’ve owned it for about a month now, and it has been great so far. I have already cooked beef roasts and whole chickens; it does an excellent job with indirect cooking for larger items. It performs just as well for direct cooking—you get plenty of heat and a nice, even sear.
The main reason I chose this model was the warranty, as I want a grill that lasts. While I can’t comment on its long-term durability yet, I am very satisfied with the performance so far.
The price is very high for what you’re getting. The burners aren’t nearly as effective as the older models were and you eliminated the fuel tank holder that let you know what your fuel level was.
I like a great looking grill to compliment my outdoor patio and cooking area and was more than disappointed about the openings under the table / trays. These openings reveal the wiring and hose which is unsightly and negates a finished look. The also creates openings that allow water etc into the base which on my previous base (same model) kept very dry.
After it was delivered I called the store back and said you missed installing two panels and they said it was complete. I don't appreciate that looks was something that was not given a second thought, trust me presentation is everything and Weber failed that test.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear you are disappointed with the grill’s design. The openings below the side tables serve as ventilation for the grill. A retaining clip will help hold the wires together. Please let us know directly if you are in need of the retaining clip for the wires. We are more than happy to assist. Thank you!
This is my second gas grill from Weber. My first one was 12 years old and looked almost brand new so I gave it to my friends and neighbors. They were thrilled to get it! Everything still worked, even the starter!
This is our second Weber Genesis. The first one lasted between 20 and 25 years. And I could still buy parts for it. This is why I love these girls. They cost a little more but they last way, way longer than the less expensive grills that you can't buy parts for 5 years later. Also I was missing a couple parts when it was delivered by The Big Box store I bought it from. They had me call Weber and Weber took care of me quickly and without any hassle. This is a great Grill and this is a great company.
