Very sleek and modern!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our 17-yr old 48” wide Viking refrigerator finally gave out. So, we decided to go with this lovely, large Kitchenaid refrigerator to fit into the custom cabinetry (that was built for the Viking, by the original owner of the house). The Kitchenaid model was more affordable than replacing with another 48” Viking.
It’s working beautifully, so far - though we will be paying a hefty amount each month to pay it off. We believe it will be worth it - if the Kitchenaid lasts as long as the Viking did!

Will not buy another KitchenAid

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The day I put food on the top shelf it froze and burst a can and glass bottle sending kombucha and sparkling water down the back wall. I've blocked an area in front of vent to avoid freezing. Temps are at factory settings.
When removing the plastic tape on drawers the black arrows leached onto the metal.
I don't like that there is only one place to pull out the big drawer instead across the whole bar. Now I have be conscious of hand placement every time.
The edges of the shelves are extremely sharp and have scratches to prove.
I don't like the door closure. I have to push it closed instead of continuation of motion.
It has a sound like an old phone ringing. About 2/day. Weird.
All these issues I thought I paid to avoid at this price I'm sure I will not be buying another KitchenAid

Problems with temperature control

From the first few weeks we have had issues with keeping the unit cold on warm summer days. Works fine in the winter but anytime the indoor temp is over 80 the fridge sits around 50 (rather than 35). Should have spent the extra money for the SubZero

Replacement fridge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good with this new, replacement fridge! Our previous fridge, same model as this except two years older, had some issues with the freezer and fridge LED lights. All the freezer lights died as did one of the fridge lights. Since it wasn’t quite two years old yet, it was still under warranty. The service tech came out to fix the lights but, about 3 weeks later, all the freezer lights died again. Another visit from the service tech resulted in all the lights except for one of the freezer lights working (replacing the light units). Considering the expense of the fridge and not all the lights working the tech was going to see internally what else might be the problem. Soon after I got a notification from Whirlpool that we were approved for a new replacement fridge. They took away the old unit and delivered the new unit and did a great job considering this is ~600lb item!

The Best

We had to replace our old Kitchenaid and decided to replace it for a 48" Built in Side by Side panel ready. We purchased it directly on the website. We are enjoying it so much. We preferred it over the Sub Zero because it opens and closes easier and is better priced. Once the wooden panels and hardware were installed, it looked so elegant. In choosing the hardware for it, I chose 18" cast iron to match the cast iron knobs I had. The install of this unit can be challenging depending on your steps and entry area, but still very much worth it.
