This is my second Edge 540, the first perished in a bike crash. I have had a number of computers over the years and this is easily the best, and fits my needs perfectly.
The buttons and menu are confusing. Few weeks of trying to use the 540 and I still struggle with the basics (start, stop), let alone the turn-by-turn navigation (which is the only reason I wanted a bike computer). The map is also not clear at all. Also, on 2 occasions the GPS dropped so the record is missing large chunks of my ride. So now I ride with my Garmin watch again, and frankly not sure why I should bother bringing the 540 anymore. I just wish I could get turn by turn directions on my Epix or on Garmin Connect which are far superior products.
I received this device as a Christmas gift, and I am thoroughly pleased. The Edge 540 stands out as the most remarkable Garmin model currently available.
I bought a new 530 some time ago. For some reason the charging port developed a fault, I contacted by phone, was instantly given details and faculty to return the faulty device, 4 days later I have new 540 in my possession. No questions asked. I am impressed with this service, well done Garmin.
