cadence and heart rate monitor

my fellow cyclists have a Garmin edge and they all love it, so I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. I had to play with it for a while to get the screen set up the way I like, but it was worth it. Now I know What I need to improve my riding skills. I like the cadence feature with my speed to know how I am doing. My salesman uses the power feature and was showing me how he gaged his endurance training.

My old 520 finally, after 6 years called it a day. I replaced it with the 540 and couldn't be happier. Much improved version.

`i love it to be quite frank…its nice to have a stand alone unit (non phone)…unfortunately i crashed really bad and had to have plates and screws installed on my upper humerus…in that bad crash not even a scratch on my edge 540…so its quite durable as well…the bike alarm leaves a bit more to be desired as its marginally louder than a field mouse farting contest…all in all i like the unit…i do recommend this unit for sure

It took a while for me to navigate but once i got used to, it's been great! I really like the detail with climbs coming up, allows be to mentally prepare for what's ahead!

Biggest benefit - Cutting the cord!

Years ago my son gave me his old Edge 500 and I used it for years. Recently he bought me the 540 and I love it. With the 500 I had to connect a USB cable to my computer to retrieve the ride information. With the 540 it is wireless so a few minutes after I complete my ride the date is transferred to Garmin Connect for review. In addition the backlit and color display are much easier to read.

I really like my new Edge 540. Works for me like a charm.
The reason for a 4 star rating. The mounting bracket doesn't clamp/mount as tight has all my previous Garmin Edge computers.
I definitely have the safety rope attached.

The 540 is working well. Love that it boots up fast. I am coming from a Wahoo, so there has been some growing pains on learning the system, but I've had zero issues with it.

Getting use to the difference from the 530
