This is my first cycling GPS/Computer and I love it. The functionality and user interface is great. I love the amount of features that it comes with preloaded. There are apps that can be added to the device but I have found that they are not necessary for the type of riding that I do. If you are on the fence about this, Just get it. You won't regret it. I wasn't aware that it came with a couple of handlebar mounts so I did end up spending more money to buy a bracket that I actually didn't need.
Coming from only using my cellphone in my pocket, the Garmin edge 540 on the handlebars is life changing. So much info is available right now, without stopping. Screens/data fields can be customized which is great for personalized info on the fly. To top it off....my wife can follow along with live track and send me motivating texts.... If you know what I mean haha
Has everything I need to keep track of my ride, and nothing that I don't. For those familiar with interfaces from other Garmin products will pick it up pretty quickly.
I usually am one to upgrade immediately but the 530 was just too good. However, this is defintely a more responsive unit with additonal features that I didn't think I would use, but have. It's a bit more bulky, but also feels more rugged and I hope to use this until the 550 is out!
