While I love a traditional barbell, this machine is really groovy with the built in smith. Instead of plates (which I have dropped on my toe at the gym before :-/ ) the smith bar uses the weights of the functional. Really cool, I haven’t seen this before. Well made, sturdy, clean modern design. I’m a fan.

These cable driven lifts are the very thing I bought the Centr 3 for. With constant tension through the whole movement, start to finish, in the way that lifting free weights does not do.
The functional trainer also gives you strength and development in movements that you cannot replicate with free weights. For example, my daughter used to attempt to strengthen her punch throwing movements by holding a dumbbell throughout the movement. The problem is that the added strengthening from that exercise is for the lift and carry of the extra weight off the floor, not the thrown punch. But with the pulleys, you can do strengthen all the muscles involved through the entire movement with a handle on a weight stack.
While the Smith bar has its place to do barbell exercises, such as with a deadlift or bench press, I can find all those needs met with the two separate handles after all, and I might have bought the Centr 2 and done without it if given a do-over. It might grow on me over time as I yet appreciate what it has to offer.

Great and complete home gym for any level

I am taller than average at 6'4" and have always had a hard time with home gyms. I found this one after a long search and am happy to report that with a medium sized room (11.5' x 10'), I have room for a full workout with this home gym and room to spare for my spin bike!
Spend the time to watch the setup videos on YouTube and familiarize yourself with how the machine works, and every workout will feel like you were at your favorite gym, without all the travel and all those people!

This setup provides all you will need for strength and functional training. I had my doubts at first, however, after using it for several months now, I can say it was worth every penny and more. Matchless quality. Highly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] An amazing machine you can get all of your exercises with this machine. I have tennis elbow and I was able to safely do biceps curl with one side and help me slowly increase the strength and grip.
