Absolutely astounding!

When people see this set, they think "oh that's cool..." Well I am here to say that this set is WAY more than "cool". This set (in my opinion) is by far one of the most impressive and realistic lego sets I have ever built! From the way the wings fold in and out to the way they flutter (when first building it doesn't seem like the base attachment will flutter much, but the wings will once you attach them) this set has a lot to offer :) OH and don't even get me started on the characters! (the hair piece could have been better for Paul ngl) but the rest of the crew is fantastic! If you are a Dune fan...get this set! If you are a Lego fan...get this set! If you need a stunning centerpiece that can double as a interactive model for no reason...GET THIS SET!!!! Lego: you guys went above and beyond with this Ornithopter... thank you so much for making this :)

I knew as soon as I saw it that I was going to be taking it home. I am a huge fan of the dune series, and this set drew me right in. It was fun to build and makes for quite the show piece. Whether you are Fremen, Bene Gesserit, Tleilaxu, or Mentat. This is the perfect lego set for any Dune fan.

Lego and Dune: Never Been So Good

I’m so happy. I truly never thought that Lego would make a Dune themed set and here we are. I think the diverse mini figures and the highly detailed vehicle itself truly make this set unique; despite the high price point. Definitely picture this set appreciating in value in years to come and I may even get an additional sealed set to add to my collection as well. And remember, even though they are on back order….”I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear.”

Just a hair away from perfection

This build is amazing, and with the amazing play features made by a marvel of technic engineering, along with the sleek design and fabulous minifigure selection, this set is an easy candidate for best set of 2024 (so far.) I love this set, and the way I see it, it only has two flaws. A lot of people complained about having a mostly technic model on a system set, but I personally disagree with that complaint. Technic models are fun to build, and the internal technic design is what gives the model its structural integrity and amazing play features. However, it does annoy me that Lego decided to use so many colorful technic parts in red and blue and even a little orange and yellow that show on the exterior and are quite distracting. Lego really should've used more discretely colored technic pins, axles, and ball joints. I don't think it's a huge deal, because hobbyists like myself who want their exposed technic elements in black or gray can simply purchase them separately and add them to their Lego Ornithopter. (If you are planning to do this, I strongly recommend incorporating your black and gray technic elements during the build process, there are several exposed colorful elements that are very difficult to replace once the model is all put together.) But I think people who are willing to go out and buy these parts in alternate colors still shouldn't have to, they should've just been incorporated into the set initially, because the colored elements significantly sacrifice the astestics. My second complaint is a lot more minor and probably would've been more difficult on Lego's end to incorporate into this set, but I think that the Baron Harkonnen figure looks a little strange with the inside of his massive cape being left white instead of being printed black like the outside of the cloth element is. In Dune, the entire robe is very obviously black, and it gives the illusion that the Baron is very tall because the robe covers his everything from his neck down except is arms, disguising his legs and his true height. I'm not asking Lego to cover up the side of the cape to accomplish this, as it would probably be very difficult and would require completely redesigning the long cape element, but I do think they really needed to print the inside of the cape black and that would've accomplished this goal very nicely. Overall, it's a great set, just with the two flaws. These flaws are only prevalent enough to knock just one star of my rating, because this model is gorgeous and I'm very happy to have this iconic piece from the Dune films and several of the main characters in minifigure form. Way to go Lego!

Loving it..

I love the original Dune movie (from the 80s) and I love the "new" Dune movie.. So I had to buy this set on the day it came out. The built is really interesting, especially since it has "landing" gears and retractable wings. This set is also more like a Technic set.. So you really need to pay attention to the instructions. But overall, it's not a difficult built.
I really recommend it!!! You need some space to display it, especially if you want to display it with the opened wings!!! Lol

One Of the Best

I have purchased most 18+ sets over the last 5 years and, without a doubt, this is one of the best. So much so if I had to recommend one set under 200 dollars, this would be my number one choice for anyone. The building experience is perfectly paced. The intricacy of the functions are mind blowing and extremely fun to both build and use. The finished exterior of the model is also very accurate to the Dune source while cramming in all those functions. Lastly, because the wings can fold in, you can display the model in a tighter space which is really appreciated as Lego sets keep getting larger and larger. Overall I can't rate this set highly enough!

Between the landing gear and the loooong Baron Harkonnen minifigure, this set was a must have! Had to take it to the Frank Herbert Trail at Dune Peninsula to ride the sand worms :)

Dune is my favorite book of all time and the Denis Villenueve adaptations are some of the greatest movies ever made, so having a high-quality representation in Lego is amazing and unbelievably well-executed!
