Excellent little unit

Aside from the screen size, I think this is a very high-quality unit. As an electrical and RF engineer, the resolution and build quality appears excellent. The menu system is logically laid out and easy to learn. The ability to update firmware and maps is also extremely easy. I would’ve preferred the unit to accept larger microSD cards as well as those formatted NTFS.

I have used this on 2 boating trips so far. It appears to be very accurate and useful when navigating unfamiliar waters.

No AIS

This model does NOT support AIS from the VHF. do not buy it. The difference in the model name was not identified at the time of sale. I bought it from the Garmin website.

I bought this unit about 3 years ago. This is the third one. Two were returned and have been replaced. If this one fails like the others did I will request a full refund.

Very difficult to pair with I phone app & impossible to connect with WiFi .
Seems as though the device has a lot of useful applications but not user friendly if you’re a novice .

Good Product but missing important part

I like the Echomap UHD2, however the cover did not come with the unit and that does Not make sense - how else are you suppose to protect it???????

It seems good for basic unit, i.e. for what it is -but has no options for upgrading transducer or interfacing it to engine info, etc. , I had a difficult time selecting this as an upgrade to a garmin striker that is just a fishfinder- yes you get a chartplotter which was my main need but anything better (other than buying additional charts) will require another full swap as this has no options.
My last small Chartplotter fishfinder was like 13yrs ago w a Lowrance Elite 5. That one also had Chirp tech and was about as thick, etc- the display tech on this IS better, but start up speed, thickness, etc are similar and I would have thought that by now they would be thinner and faster startup so somewhat disappointed- I think most competition is all the same so just think all of them are lagging other tech,- so it may be as good as they get, but think they could do better. (think about how much better smartphones are after 13 yrs)
