I would have given this until 5 stars but so much time was WASTED following the directions! It tells you to remove 4 screws and slide the unit out of its housing and install the housing first. Then slide the unit back in. There are MULTIPLE screws in the bottom of the unit securing everything together! Didn’t need to waste an excessive amount of time trying to follow INCORRECT INSTRUCTIONS! I had to go to the website to actually see it didn’t need to be taken apart! GE, whoever wrote this manual needs to be fired for incompetency!

We are happy to assist with your air conditioner. According to the Installation Instructions, on page 10, Step 3A, it directs you to remove two screws on each side of the case, for a total of four screws. The instructions do not require removing the additional screws on the bottom of the unit. You may find it helpful to review page 10, Step 3A of the Installation Instructions, as it outlines the screws that need to be removed for proper installation.
Too early to tell but it is working ok. Instructions in the assembly manual don't accurately describe the particular unit. Internal unit can't be pulled out until several screws are removed which aren't mentioned. Front grill does not fit well and tabs broke off trying to re-install it. Cheap plastic. Foam insulation prevented the grill from attaching properly. Had to tape it on.

It is critical that the capacity of a room air conditioner be the right size for the room being cooled. An improperly-sized air conditioner can result in a cold, clammy environment or an inadequately cooled room. An oversized air conditioner results in the compressor running for short periods of time. As cold air leaves the air conditioner in a small room, it is deflected off of the walls back to the air conditioner and prematurely cycles the appliance off. This results in cold spots and hot spots and very little loss of humidity. An undersized air conditioner results in the compressor staying on most of the time and the appliance not adequately lowering the humidity level and temperature in the room. Ambient indoor and outdoor temperatures can be an issue as well. Operating a room air conditioner if the outdoor temperature is 70° F or below will limit the cooling capacity of the unit. Check the indoor temperature. If the room is already 64° F or below, the thermostat cannot turn on the compressor. Consider the temperature of the room when the air conditioner was first turned on. If the room was very hot, it will take longer to cool the room. When heat is stored up in walls, furniture, rugs and draperies, it will take longer to cool the room down. Whenever possible, turn the unit on before the room heats up. If there is ice on the coils, the outdoor temperature may be below 70° F. The best way to prevent ice on the coils is to avoid running the appliance if the outdoor temperature is below 70°F. If the temperature is close to 70 or you are unsure of the temperature, you can turn the thermostat to a warmer setting and set the fan switch to the highest position. If the cooling performance continues to be an issue, check with the retailer from whom you purchased the unit to return it for an exchange or call our service team Bodewell at 1-833-4Bodewell to discuss your options under the limited one-year warranty.
It was still warm outside so I got to use th AC immediately. It worked great. Now I am using the heat and I am very pleased with how well this unit is working.
