I miss my propane range!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our old propane stove failed and we switched to electric to reduce indoor air pollution. We're breathing easier but so miss our old range! No matter how expensive the cleaner, I cannot for the life of me get the cooktop clean. Any minor spill is baked on. Expensive sprays, creams, scrub pads and scrapers...nothing works. The scraper scratched the surface in the first week! The lines showing heated areas are painted on the surface, so easily scratched off. I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get the surface clean, to no avail. Tempurate of burners is almost impossible to control compared to a gas range. They're either lava hot (and things burn or liquid spills out) or, when you turn burners down, there's no heat at all so things cook improperly (e.g., pasta easily boils over, but when you turn the heat down it takes forever to get back up to boiling, so pasta winds up gummy and ruined by the time it's cooked through). The oven temp drops precipitously when you open the door, as in 200 degrees just to remove a baking tray and check for doneness of whatever you're cooking. So either wait 5-10 minutes for it to get back up to temp (then open the door again to replace the tray, resulting in another temperature drop) or replace right away and know that your food is cooking at the wrong temp. I have no idea how anyone would do any serious baking with this oven. Even the timer is annoying. It only works with the oven not the cooktop. And if you set it for 20 minutes, intending to check your food and then cook longer, you have to be aware that when the timer goes off so does the oven. This means that after 20 minutes, if your food isn't done, you have to start the whole cooking process over again: set oven temp; wait for oven to come back up to temp (if you opened the door to check on your food); then set timer again, hoping that the food is done this time or else you have to go through the whole process again. Forget putting multiple trays or pans in at different times; nothing will get done when you think or cook properly from start to finish. The timer should not automatically turn off the oven and the temp should not drop so fast and so far, taking forever to get back up to setting. We miss our old appliance more than I can say. I have adjusted to some of the quirks of electric (if I watch every pan on the stove all the time I might be able to prevent boil-overs or burning; I use a standalone timer instead of the one that controls the oven, etc.) but I would never recommend this type of range to anyone, despite the drawbacks of gas/propane.

For your cooktop cleaning concern, please ensure that the surface is completely cool before cleaning. We recommend using a ceramic glass cooktop cleaner, such as Frigidaire ReadyClean™ Cooktop Cleaner, together with a non-abrasive pad or soft cloth. Please avoid using metal scrapers or harsh pads, as these can scratch the glass surface and remove the printed zone markings.
For the burner temperature control, make sure you’re using flat-bottomed cookware that makes full contact with the surface. Please note that the heating elements on your model cycle on and off to maintain temperature, so it may take a few moments for the heat to stabilize when you adjust the settings.
Regarding the oven temperature drop, opening the oven door can cause a significant amount of heat to escape. We suggest checking your food through the oven window using the interior light whenever possible to help maintain consistent cooking temperatures.
Lastly, for the timer function, please double-check that you’re not using the Timed Bake feature, as it automatically turns the oven off once the set time has expired. If you’d like the oven to stay on continuously, use the Bake function without setting a timer, or consider using a standalone kitchen timer instead.
