Great Retro Console!

My Arcade did a great job with their Atari Gamestation Pro!
In addition to the 200+ included games - all nicely sorted by system - the inclusion of the Micro SD slot enables you to add as many additional games as you'd like! And not just Atari - I downloaded and added a nice set of NES roms. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to efficiently sort the games on the SD card. So you might want to keep them down to a manageable number.

It's a nice looking system with a cool interface. The controllers are nice, but as
other reviewers have noted, the button placement makes some games virtually unplayable. At least 1 YouTube reviewer (Jon at GenXGrownup) has discovered that other controllers (notably the Xbox One controller) are compatible and solve the problem. Just need a USB-A to USB C adapter to plug said controller into the front of the console.

All in all I'd say it's well worth the money!

But, if you did.... you WILL love this. It will be for laughs, and you really will love it. Oh of course, you have been corrupted by modern gaming, but there is a place for this kind of nostalgia.
Lets dive in:
Atari Gamestation Pro - Its like the modern equivalent of the Sinclair ZX-81. You are either going to hate it, or realize its awesome because you are reliving your youth, but perhaps not much more. But then, did you ever get to level three of any arcade game? Well, this makes it just challenging enough that you strive to do it using the original arcade ROMs. You smile as you buy SD cards, update the BIOS, find ROMS, download and then load them, and manage to get Gauntlet working.... but this time with infinite quarters. You quickly imagine recalling when you were 14, and wondered if you had thought that perhaps every game in the arcade would someday be available on a small device you could put in your pocket???
Initially, I hated the joysticks just like I never did in the 80s. Well, I like them again after getting used to them once more. It took tinkering to return to my 80s youthful look on the world. Don't make it too easy Atari!! This is a good speed. Thank you!!

I found GenXGrownUp as soon as I searched for Atari Gamestation MAME. Follow him on YouTube to find out if this is in your comfort zone.
The reason I finally bought this is, I went to bestbuy.ca, and GenXGrownUp was mentioned there in the reviews. I spend a few minute watching his reviews. That was enough to get me to buy this. I almost never buy things.

Not a blast from the past

Games are not smooth and wireless joysticks do not react quickly and glitches. The 2 wireless joysticks take 4 AA each and have a short range of distance from the console. Big disappointment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

MIDI Sounds will Annoy you!

A friend bought this and basically after about ten minutes we were completely bored of it. Annoying MIDI sounds. Ridiculously long load times. Zero upscaling. This should be less than $50. Some games have 3 or 4 versions of the same game from the different Atari consoles which makes zero difference 2600, 5200, 7800 or arcade. No track ball for Crystal Castle? Missing a lot of the original titles. Where’s ET, Pitfall, Space Invaders?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
