Good, lightweight saw but limited

i have used gas chainsaws for 30 years so thought i would try an electric. I put it to use right away as i work in orange groves where limbs need trimming and dead ones cut down (BTW citrus wood is very hard). It's lightweight and easy to use and much less hassle than a gas saw. In general it's a good saw. For me, the downside is that the chain runs slower than a gas saw, probably designed this way to conserve on the batteries. I get that. However, because the chain runs slower, it doesn't cut small branches well (say 1/2" or smaller) as the limb bounces around from the chain. I was hoping this saw would be great for trimming since it is light weight, where a gas saw for trimming tires you out from so much handling. I recommend that Worx add a hi/lo speed switch. If you are cutting a lot of 6"" plus stuff, i suggest sticking with gas since it takes longer time to cut with the slower speed. Whether or not I recommend this saw depends on what you are going to use it for as i have indicated above. I am not saying this is a bad saw, it's just a little more limited than i thought it would be. But it might be perfect for others.

WG 381

The 381 chainsaw works well, has a powerful, smooth 40V motor, and makes short work of smaller than 6" diameter wood. The chain speed is right-on-target. It is heavier than my WG 380 and is not balanced side-to-side like the 380. I could use the WG 380 with 1 hand, but not this 381. The weight distribution balance is not centered properly. I love the 380 and have used it for 3.5 years now. I tried to find another one just like it, but of course it's no longer available. I bought the 40V system back then because it was THEN the 'share system'. Now the 20V is the 'share system'. No way the 20V can compete with the 40V tools. I still have the 40V weed-eater, and leaf blower, so I'm keeping the 40V share going. Bad move for Worx to transition from the 40V to the 20V share system.

Easy Handling

I needed a chain saw for a project, but I wanted it to be light and to feel comfortable handling it. I also didn’t want to deal with gas. This was perfect. It did everything I needed and wanted and very easy to clean. The batteries add to its safety because when you stop using it to clear a jam , you take the batteries out, no power, no problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Chain keeps coming off

I have had this saw for a few weeks and finally tried it out when we had a warm day last week. It is potentially a fine tool for trimming and pruning, it is lightweight, powerful enough for most jobs, and does away with all the mess and noise of gas models. The problem is, I cannot get the chain to stay on for more than five minutes. I have experience with conventional power saws, and a friend with similar experience was on hand, but neither of us was able to adjust the chain tension to avoid the chain constantly flying off the bar. I will try to get it to work as designed when we have another nice day, but likely it will be heading back to WORX
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
