This takes the purification to a whole new level as I would say it’s a best in class device. You can even use your FSA/HSA funds to purchase now. If you’d like to save quite a bit then definitely go with the refurbished unit. Highly recommend.

A decent air purifier

Yes, it filters the air pretty well. My biggest gripe is with its sensor, specifically in terms of measuring VOCs. I have two mini +'s and am air pro. All three can be right next to each other and the two mini +s will say the air is good and the air pro will say it's bad to very bad only because of sensing high to very high VOCs in the air. It's as if the air pro thinks I have an open can of paint directly next to it all of the time. Numerous troubleshooting methods have not changed this so I am left to only think it's mainly an issue with the sensor's accuracy in the air pro model. The other issue is obviously the price of the filters is VERY expensive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
