Use too much battery
on July 21, 2025

I pirchased two of these for my home after having used the Nest version before. The Yale branded locks use a ton of battery power. In the year, I've probably replaced the batteries about 5 times. I ended up starting to use rechargeable batteries to cut back on the waste. One lock inexplicably uses more battery than the other. They are within 10ft of one another and about equal distance to the wifi.
The stranger thing is that the one that uses more battery is never used. It's a garage door entry into the home so it's always unlocked and never used to electronically lock or unlock.
They've also lost their door detection calibration a couple of times. I've had to recalibrate twice on both locks.
At the same time, my Nest locks at my other home are about three times older and I've only replaced the batteries twice.
I regret buying these and wish I had stuck to the Nest version. Live and learn.

Doesn’t integrate well with apple homekit or google home. Is glitchy and difficult to get it to properly add show up as available to add in order to connect it.

It will drain your batteries

I was very excited to have this smart lock that works with HomeKit and has a touch sensor. But after several months of use, I am extremely disappointed.
The lock drains a full set of batteries in a week or so. I have tried all sorts of batteries (alkaline, lithium, etc.), and all of them die just as quickly. I am now sticking with rechargeable ones, but the worst part is that you will never get a notification from their app when the device is offline.
This means you have no idea the lock's batteries are dead until you try to use it, which is a massive failure for a security device.
Prepare to be locked out. Luckily, we can access our home through the garage.
DO NOT BUY IT!

Reconnects to WiFI and goes into passage mode

I bought this lock about a month ago. Installation was fairly straightforward. The lock seems to operate reasonably well. I have had to call support a few times most notably about the lock going into passage mode randomly. This is very problematic as the lock will unlock itself!! I do not have the original packaging so I do not know if I can return it. If I cannot resolve the passage mode problem I will have to uninstall it. There is zero security when the lock randomly unlocks itself!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
