Very quiet and very cool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using De'longhi products in my home for a while now and have come to love their quality, elegance, and ease of use so, being a Florida resident where AC is near a requirement for comfortability, it was a no brainer to get my hands on the De'longhi Pinguino Artic Whisper portable Air Conditioner. My first thoughts on this unit are that I love the sleek lines and design. It just looks like it would match if not compliment any room it is placed in, definitely not the industrial trashcan look of most portable air conditioners. So lets breeze right on into the De'longhi Pinguino Artic Whisper!
Packaging and In the Box – The unit comes well packaged and protected and even with moderate damage to the box, everything was in perfect shape. Unpacking was a nice experience, the folks at De'longhi seemed to put a lot of thought into how they packaged this unit. I say this as no space is wasted even to utilizing the hose to contain parts, to me this was the most thought out packaging I have seen to date. In the box we have the unit of course, manuals (including easy setup and alexa/google home guide), end of season bags (one for the accessories and one for the unit), evaporator water drain hose, capped drain hose, remote control, widow brackets (they have one little pin each DO NOT throw these away), exhaust hose, outlet vent, and foam stripping. If I have any complaint is regarding the bracket locking pins as they look like disposable packing items and I almost threw mine away.
Installation and Setup – I already have a portable air conditioner I am using in the room where I will house the Pinguino so the hard part of the installation is already complete. In my case I vent my current unit through the wall so most pf the work was already done. There is a size difference in the exhaust hole from my old unit to the new Pinguino so I did have to increase the interior and midpoint holes through my wall to 6.5” to accommodate the new hose and luckily the exterior flange hole stayed the same. Oh and THANK YOU De'longhi for including a new wall flange that would work with your unit and not making me buy it separately! Now luckily for me the length from inside to outside my house is just over 10.5 inches (interior wall to exterior wall then interior facia to exterior facia) so I did not have to modify the hose at all. The hose is just over 14” collapsed, I love the rigid accordion style collapsing hose BTW. Luckily the port on the Pinguino was almost the same height as my existing hole so no real bend was needed. Note that De'longhi asks for 32 inch clearance from the wall but in my case it would cause the unit to be in my work area so I am taking the risk with that variation, that said please adhere to the recommendations in the manual if at all possible. Now that was my installation experience, but of course those who use the window for the exhaust will have a much easier time but all in all this was very easy.
Use – This is one of the easiest and quickest setup time from app install to first use I have experienced. Note that my experience is with an android based phone and Google Home devices so there may be variations to setting this up. To get going download and install the Pinguino app from the google play store, then register. Once registration is complete you can add a device, at this point plug in the unit and the Wi-Fi indicator will be flashing. Go back to the Pinguino app and add device, then it will ask for your Wi-Fi information and you will then connect to the units internal Wi-Fi network. Once connected the information will be uploaded to the unit and it will auto connect to your home Wi-Fi. Once complete you will see the unit on your app. Next I added the unit to my Google Home account and immediately was able to voice control it through my nest hub. It really was that easy, and from start to being added to Google Home was all of 7 minutes. Today the outside temperature is 81 degrees and the room I am cooling is my workshop (25’x15’ or 375 sq ft) after 5 minutes of run time I checked with an infrared thermometer and the output at the vent of the unit is 47 degrees. From an interior starting temperature of 77 degrees to my setting of 73 degrees took just under 25 minutes. The Pinguino has kept up all day with my preferred temperature and minimal run time to maintain it and not much more noise than a good fan!
My final thoughts on the De'longhi Pinguino Artic Whisper is that De'longhi, as I have come to expect, yet again has made an elegant, almost beautiful appliance that exceeds my expectations in performance and build quality. There is a reason De'longhi is number one in my book for quality and durability in the devices they make. You will love this product as much as I do!

Great cooling ability

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Arctic Whisper 600 sq ft Portable Air Conditioner with Heat is a pretty great unit. It has the option of cooling as well as heating which is a nice dual capability to have. Our house does not have central air conditioning so the summer months can get pretty warm especially when you only have a fan. The cooling capability works great and can get the main living area reasonably cold. The heating also works well although we have a home heater so our primary use for this unit is for cooling purposes. The operating panel is pretty straightforward and easy to use and I quite like how is works. In terms of noise it’s also relatively good and doesn’t get overly loud. It’s so much easier to use compared to the portable window unit we used to have. The only design flaw I can see is the base of the unit. Since the unit is fairly heavy, the base should have been better designed to support the weight. There are wheels on casters to help make it portable but one of our casters attached to the base is cracking and broken which to me indicates that the base of the unit should be more durable and made of a heavier duty plastic or even metal to support the weight. Without all fully functioning wheels, it’s hard to move the unit around which defeats the purpose of it being portable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m beyond impressed with this unit! We live in the hot south and have a sunroom that’s solid windows so though beautiful, it’s impossible to enjoy in the space during summer without air conditioning. This week, the average temps are already hitting the upper 90’s and it is working perfectly at cooling the room. Installation and set up took less than 15 minutes out of the box. We have taller side sliding windows and the included panels plus extender were easy to put in place and foam insulation stripping is included. I’m also happy that a capped wall flange is included so if we decide to create a permanent vent instead of using a window, we can. There are 3 ways to operate the unit. The unit itself has a clear easy to use control panel. It also comes with a remote using 2 AAA batteries (included) and finally by app. I’m on a Pixel 4XL and the app was easy to connect and works great. It’s easily able to adjust the temp., mode, fan speed etc. through my phone. As we live in a humid climate, I was happy to see the unit utilizes the water it collects to cool the coils which is rather cool. If you are in a “regular” climate the directions state you only need to drain at the end of the season and for more humid climates like mine, possibly a bit more but still way less maintenance than our prior unit required. Function-wise, it cools, dehumidifies, heats and can operate in fan mode to circulate air. You can also set it on timer and the Arctic Whisper mode is great for even quieter use. It's on wheels to easily move and includes a dust cover for off season as well as an accessory bag to keep everything together when storing. They really thought of everything when designing this unit, am very happy and looking forward to a cool summer with tons of family time in our sunroom.

Powerful!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Pinguino Smart Portable Air Conditioner with Heat Mode is a powerful 4-in-1 unit. It’s perfect for rooms up to 600 square feet. Set-up was simple with included instructions manual. With the Wifi Connection you can program the unit from anywhere. After downloading the De’Longhi App I was able to control all the settings directly from my phone. The Eco Real Feel technology cools the room based on the temperature and humidity, while using 30% less energy. The ArcticWhisper technology produces up to 50% less noise, which is great for sleep! I highly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a portable air conditioner and it finally got warm enough to use this one. Very easy to set up. The wheels make it very easy to move around and hook up to a lower window. Not too loud, remote works great and it cooled the room down quickly.

Lifesaver!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This portable AC has been a lifesaver for us this summer in the Texas heat and humidity. Our AC had a leak it took us a while to find and therefore a while to fix, and this AC unit absolutely saved the day(s). It’s lightweight enough to move every day between the living room during the day and the bedroom at night. It cooled both spaces, 560 sqft and about 400 sqft, really well. There’s a quiet mode that was great for running at night in the bedroom that even my husband, who thinks a fan is too loud sometimes, was OK with. The remote has great range and setting it up in the window was a breeze. Efficient, easy to use, and very highly recommended from me!

Cooling and Portable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This DeLonghi portable air conditioner is really convenient and easy to cool a room without a lot of intrusive or extensive installation. Most houses around here were not built with air conditioners due to the traditionally mild weather but it has become increasingly warm each summer. We really only need air conditioning two or three weeks total each year for heat waves. This portable air conditioner is a good way to cool the house down when needed and then be put away for the rest of the year. It doesn’t require drilling holes or putting a permanent machine into windows like other air conditioners. The machine just requires a window near an outlet and some space for the machine to sit on the floor.
The wheels on this machine are really nice and smooth and quite necessary because it is very heavy. It is easy to roll it from room to room and into storage. I liked that the remote has large buttons and the machine has a place to put it on top. This also has wifi capabilities to control with smart devices or the app. I personally prefer just using the remote and find it perfectly functional. It was easy to understand how to set up and use the air conditioner after reading through the instruction manual (not completely an intuitive machine). I wish that the air hose was slightly longer. I found that it cannot reach a higher up window even with the machine right under it and I needed half a foot more. The sound level is not too intrusive or loud. It isn’t the softest machine but it is quieter on the arctic whisper mode. I liked that this came with bags to cover the machine and the parts when it is not in use. Much better than putting a garbage bag or a cloth to protect it in the off season. Unfortunately, the air hose and other attachments have to be put in a separate bag and cannot be stored on the machine to save room. The machine was well packaged and protected. It was easy to unbox and put together but it was not easy to dispose of the packaging. There was a lot of foam that had to be put in the landfill and large staples covered in foam that had to be removed from the cardboard before being recycled. I spent more time removing staples and throwing away foam than setting up the machine. Overall, this portable air conditioner is a good option to cool a room as needed but could have better designed packaging and more effective space design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] De'Longhi has hit it out of the park with this one. I am currently using it in a large shed/work space area and has out performed every unit I have ever tried. The refreshing feeling of walking into a crisp work area is beyond refreshing. Using the Wi-Fi feature allows me to start the unit before I even.get back there, this is my favorite feature.
