Had the 1st Gen, Now This

Upgraded from the 1st gen AirPods Max, and even without having them side-by-side anymore, these still feel just as good—if not better based on what I’ve seen from other reviewers.
The noise cancelling was already the best when the first gen dropped about 6 years ago, and honestly, it still feels like #1. I can’t say exactly how much it improved, but it definitely performs better than the Sony XM5 for reference.
Transparency mode is just as impressive as I remember—almost like you’re not wearing headphones at all. Compared to the XM5, Momentum, AirPods Pro 3, and other earbuds/headphones I’ve tried, this is still the most natural. The only slight difference is when hearing your own voice, but that’s expected.
Comfort is basically the same. They’re still on the heavier side, but the elastic headband does a great job distributing the weight. Clamp is solid too—secure and snug without being uncomfortable. And biggest benefit compared to 99% of the headphones in the Market, big earcups where my ears don't touch the drivers. Only ones I like besides this is the xm3-6 series because they're comfy and light enough, with good material, where it doesn't hurt when the drivers are resting on my ears.
The bra-style case is still annoying, and I do wish there was an easier way to check battery percentage without using your phone.
Price-wise, I think it’s fair. I’ve owned more expensive Bluetooth headphones, and I still prefer the AirPods Max (both 1st and 2nd gen) the most—for the design, sound signature, Bluetooth performance, and closed-back feel.
Overall, still my favorite headphones.
