Near best carry-on: Improve these two

Excellent carry-on with one of the best designs out there. Two tweaks would make it unbeatable: (1) the waxed finish shows wear quickly—it scuffs easily and attracts dust and looks fatigued with lots of scratches. An unwaxed, more durable fabric (similar to the Bellroy Tokyo Messenger Bag) would keep it looking fresh for a long time. (2) add a full-width top-front zip pocket for passports, wallet, and small meds; the current side-zip doesn’t organize these well - it could be hard to add such a pocket but I guess it's not impossible. With those changes, this carry-on would be best-in-class.

After 30 minutes of trying to unlatch the clasps that hold the “shoe bag,” I’m happy that I didn’t slice my hand off while using a blunt object to click open the latch. Can’t use it while traveling since I’m not confident it will open. Ugh! The 22” soft side weighs 6.2 lbs empty so my initial carryon attempt will be interesting next week. Bought this item off of Thule’s brand

Perfect carry on

I needed an upgrade for my carry on and I wanted to complete my Thule set. The Aion fits the bill for as I travel for work half the year so I needed something that can keep up and be reliable. I have to travel with work boots so the front compartment is perfect for size 12 boots with no issues. Plenty of depth on the other side for a work week trip. Wheels are smooth and so is the pulley action. Like some have noted if you swing it around and the front wheels are turned in it will tip forward with a bag on top but not terrible just an awareness. Highly recommend.

A slick thoughtfully-designed roller.

Taken this Thule Aion roller on approximately 30+ trips now - majority have been on planes. This is my carry on and it’s been an incredible pack for me over these past 3 years. Wheels like a dream and has a well thought out interior with load fasteners integrated into a good sized zip pocket that can fit shoes (I’m size US men’s 12). Interior mesh has held up with no holes or tears. Zippers are robust and zip freely and smoothly, even around the “corners” of this very streamlined roller. Super clever little pack that’s perfect for 3day, weeklong or more length trips. Price is kinda steep in my opinion compared to competitors and the extendable handle could be just a little more sturdy. That said, my bag is proof that the product/concept works very very well. My wife has a Samsonite shell case roller of a similar size - years newer - and it’s already had a zipper replacement. The only reason I’m writing this review is because I’m buying another one for her so she’ll stop taking mine lol. I hope this helps and if you’re still reading this you have a blessed peace-filled life.
