Don't buy

Do not buy this. It routinely stops during use and the blades seem to lower on their own, digging into the ground and ruining patches of lawn, especially when using the bag. It also stalls frequently and has been more hassle than it’s worth.

Hello gran1. Thank you for your question. If the mower stops during use, there could be a few issues that could be causing this. 1) check to see if the unit or battery is too warm. If either is warm the unit may shut off. There is an internal circuit breaker in our batteries. Take the battery indoors and allow it to cool for about 30 minutes and try again. 2) Make sure to start the unit correctly. Always push and hold the safety button first, as the safety button is being held down use your other hand to lift the bale handle. Once the unit starts release the safety switch and continue to hold onto the bale handle. We ask that you clean out the underdeck of the mower and ensure that the grass bag is empty. Any build-up of debris could affect the performance of the unit and prevent proper power. Do not spray water under the deck of the mower. For caked-on grass, use a scraper to get rid of the grass, and then you can use a damp cloth to wipe off loose pieces. Finish by wiping with the dry cloth. We also suggest removing the blade and fan to clear out any debris around the motor shaft. If, after attempting the troubleshooting tip and, the problem persists. We recommend contacting our customer support team for assistance with properly submitting a warranty claim. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat with an Expert” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent I Monday - Friday: 9:30am – 5pm EST or by calling 1-888-909-6757 between 9AM and 7PM EST, M-F. Do not buy unless you have a flat yard

I have had an 80V 21" push mower for 7 years. I bought this mower to help with some steep slope cutting. It is basically worthless. If you try to use it to cut grass more than a couple inches tall or use it to mulch and bag leaves it stalls out. If you try to cut on a slope greater then 15 degrees it stalls out. I am back to using my 7 year old push mower.

Hello Terry55552. We appreciate you sharing your experience with the mower. User safety is the top priority, and it is strongly advised not to use the mower on inclines greater than 15 degrees. This is not a limitation of the unit itself but a safety precaution to ensure safe operation. For optimal performance and safety on steeper slopes, equipment designed for those conditions, such as brushcutters or string trimmers, is recommended. When grass is varied, sparse in one area and denser in another area, and is above the ideal height of 4" the mower may lay the grass over and this can result in uneven or uncut grass. Here are a few tips to ensure the best results: If the grass has been left to exceed 4", we advise that you raise the cutting height and cut no more than 1/3 of the length of grass at a time, wait a couple of days and do another 1/3, cut when grass is dry and walk at steady pace to allow the blade to work more efficiently. As the lawn becomes consistently maintained you will see the cut and run time improve. Hope these tips help. A weak, poorly designed mower
on June 25, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve owned this mower for 4 years and I live in NC. This is not a mower designed for workhorse lawn cutting. It is able to cut dry grass well. It is not able to cut thick summer grass well, and it certainly can’t cut anything that’s wet. I don’t bag my grass because it’s too much work but this limits me to mulching because there is no side discharge. The mower becomes clogged very often. When grass is thick here in NC in the summer months I inevitably have to flip the mower over and scrape out the grass clippings a dozen or so times in one hour of work. There, you have been warned.

Hello gordonm. We are sorry to learn about the problem you are encountering with your mower. Here are some tips to prevent clogging. Mow when grass is dry: Avoid mowing when grass is wet or has dew on it. Sharpen your blades regularly: Aim to sharpen your blades after every 20-25 hours of mowing. Follow the 1/3 rule: Never remove more than one-third of the grass blade at a time. Clean your mower deck: Scrape or wash the underside of the deck after each mow to remove grass buildup. Consider mulching: The mowers chop clippings into smaller pieces that are less likely to clump. Mow at a higher setting: Adjust the mowing height to reduce the amount of grass being cut at once. Double-cut the lawn: If your grass is very thick, you can mow at a higher setting and then cut again at a lower setting a few days later. By following these tips, you can significantly reduce the need to frequently clean the mower deck and enjoy a smoother mowing experience. We hope you will find this information useful. If you require any additional support or have questions regarding a product, we recommend try our Q&A section on products' page or Chat with us direct on our website www.greenworkstools.com.

I've made the transition from gas to electric. The 25' double blade is a game changer. No fuel or maintenance and easy and fast battery charge; mowed my lawn 20 minutes faster. I also used their electric 80v trimmer, edger, and leaf blower. Moreover, the power is unreal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With amazing power, this mower went through the first mow of the season like a champ! Being self-propelled and even through the longer-than-normal grass due to several days of rain, the mower had zero issues. Battery life was much better than my previous 40v mower from Greenworks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great cut, I like the adjustable speed, and one lever to raise and lower the cutting height. Plenty of battery for my front yard.
