After approximately three years of use, noticeable battery degradation can occur, as lithium-ion cells naturally lose capacity over repeated charge cycles and time. However, the charging dock no longer recognizing the battery is not expected behavior and may indicate one of the following:
A failed charging dock (internal contact or PCB issue)
Battery terminal contamination (dust/debris on contacts)
A battery pack that has reached end-of-life or developed a fault
Recommended Troubleshooting
Inspect and gently clean the battery and charger contacts with a dry cloth.
Ensure the charger is plugged directly into a working wall outlet (not a power bar).
Confirm the LED indicator behavior on the charger (no light, flashing, solid, etc.).
If the charger is not registering the battery at all (no indicator response), it could possibly be a charger issue rather than just reduced battery runtime.
While we understand the comparison to your Dyson unit, performance differences often correlate directly with motor wattage, battery amp-hour capacity, and price tier. That said, the vacuum should still provide reliable secondary-use performance when functioning correctly.
