In order to have a sleek appearing front, the door is an extra five inches wide or so which means you have to stand five inches further back from the microwave to keep it from hitting you in the face when you open it. Worse, the hinge is on the side with the food, not the side with the mechanical stuff, which means your food is further away than it should be when you open the door part way. Overall the door design is annoying and impractical just to make it look nicer when not in use.

Low Profile OTR microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the shorter height and sleek appearance of this microwave. It gives me more space between the top of my range and the bottom of the microwave, making it less frustrating when cooking with tall stock pots. Since we only use our microwave for reheating it does the job, although it takes a bit more time than the larger microwave we used to have. My only complaint is how difficult it was to install. The mounting locations for the screws to secure the top of the unit to the cabinet are in the cabinet joints, a perfectly horrible location to try to drill holes. We had to hack up the cabinet to get access to the mounting holes, and the mounting template wasn't accurate. It was an installation nightmare.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve always wanted a microwave above my stove. My cabinets are lower and I couldn’t do this, but with the low profile slim microwave I can. As a button on front screen that pops the door open. So easy to use. Perfect height for me, I’m 5’2”

Works like a charm!

It's 18 inches and I needed something around 15 or 16. Otherwise, it's perfect. Easy to install and looks great.
