Worth every penny

I upgraded from a Fenix 3 HR, so my impressions are based on much older technology. I was anxiously awaiting a fenix upgrade that hit all the marks for me. First off, the weight and wearability is exponentially better. My old fenix was heavy and large, and wouldn't dream of sleeping with it on. This new model I forget is even on my wrist but yet maintains that military grade look I love. Build quality is top notch, status quo for Garmin products. Absolutely love the flashlight feature, what a useful feature that I have used almost every day. The map, weather, and navigation features are fantastic. Limitless activity profiles now, so every sport is essentially trackable in a useful way. Never ending customization opportunities, thankfully I leveraged the app on my phone to avoid having to click around a thousand times on the watch to get it setup just the way I want. Data Lover watch face is still my favorite, and this new model has so many more data points to display. Glances, controls and hot keys are so useful. Morning reports are very informative. The heart rate sensor is so much better than prior watches I have tried. GPS connectivity is almost instant. Created a multisport custom activity for an off road marathon that worked flawlessly, same goes for the pre planned route I created.
I can't say I have seen any benefit of the solar feature yet, even when in full sun exposure for hours. I have been getting approximately 1 week of battery life, using it for 1-2 hours of gps activities per day, normal notifications turned on, and minimal backlight usage. Was hoping for a little longer.

I just used the Garmin Golf on my watch for a round. Past golf watches couldn't last a whole 18 but this barely went down 5% on the power for the whole day. Can't wait to go cycling with it!!

Great piece of kit. Way too many features. Only negative is that the front metallic face scratches very easily.

Amazing Watch, just the HRM doesn’t like my HR
on August 19, 2023

I like the watch and all its countless features for sports and activities, training and recovery. It did not disappoint (except for the issue below).
The only thing I can’t get to work consistently is the HRM. I saw reviews online showing the new HRM is very good, but for some reason my readings are pretty wild. Examples: - Running easy at 9:20 / mi, which for me it is easy, Hr goes up to 150 and above during a 7/8mi run on almost flat terrain. For reference, I ran a marathon three weeks before with another watch, average race pace 7:40/mi, and 150 bpm is approx the average of the first 10/12mi. - Track workout, warmup at 8:20 pace, i average 122 bpm… - I run again an easy pace, and towards the end I go above 150 bpm almost going 160 into threshold range, while still running easy….?
I understand each day is different and temperature and slightly different elevation profiles affect my HR, but the variations seem pretty large.
Maybe it’s my wrist shape, skin color, hair, or running cadence that really confuses with the HR. Or maybe my older watch was wrong when comes to tracking HR, but it was more consistent.
Besides that, I’m satisfied with the watch and I’d recommend it. Other people did not have my same problem.
