The HP computer is fantastic: a great machine. However, Microsoft Windows seems to be more about data gathering, marketing, and sales rather than efficient disc operation with end user needs in mind.
This is the second 17" hp envy computer I have bought, the first became a hand-me-down to my husband. I was surprised and disappointed with the new configuration. The on/off button hidden along the other function keys (some of which I can not identify). I don't like the backlit keys and haven't figured out how to stop that yet. DO NOT recommend
HP changes configurations without considering input from users. I've had 5 HP laptops, the last three have been ENVY. In my previous ones the laptops came with a CD/DVD reader/writer; now that is not an option, you have to order an external unit and carry one more item with you, making the laptop less portable. Also, before getting this ENVY, I had prdered another 17.3" HP laptop, and it came without the numeric keypad on the right side, so I had to return it and order the ENVY. In prior years, if you bought a 17.3" laptop, it came with the numeric keypad. If you need it like me to write ASCI characters, you better check before ordering.
I am very pleased so far with my new HP Envy 17.3. I am very pleased with the processor speed and it was so easy to set up once receiving it. The size of the screen is impressive!
So far, my problems have been getting used to Windows 11. The first computer problem happened this past weekend. Staying in a Air B&B, I connected to the house wifi without any trouble. But the next day, it wouldn't reconnect but did not tell me why. The laptop screen is beautiful. The touch pad works better than any of my previous laptops. The feel of the keyboard is also very nice.
