10 cups is not quite enough and I can’t press the button again to keep coffee warm past 1 hour so that’s a little inconvenient for my often busy mornings. It looks nice and makes decent coffee but overall I wouldn’t purchase again.
I used this coffee machine for almost 2 years and not disappointed. The quality of this SMEG coffee maker has good as when purchased. I will admit that because of its unusual style you need more precision to fill the top with water than other brands. Very important here: put the initial settings for what is called if memory serves right “hard water” so that your coffee will be warmer than the “standard setting “. The instruction book was maybe translated with an erroneous (?) wording but “hard water” mode is working better.
I received this as a gift, and what a disappointment. The coffee maker is aesthetically pretty but not practical. The carafe is very cheap and flimsy, with the lettering on the outside peeling off after a year. For a coffee maker valued at over $300 this should not happen.
I’ve used this machine about three times since I purchased… I prefer instant coffee and bought the kettle as well. I only bought this coffee machine for the days I want a lot of coffee and to look pretty on my countertop. The three times that I’ve used it, it has worked perfectly and although the water is not as hot as I would like, I just have to nuke it for a bit. I think it is worth the money and not sure why so many people are having problems. The reviews on the kettle were not great either, but I have never had a problem. Maybe because I live alone? I am the only one that uses it so I take gentle care of both machines. I am very happy with Smeg and am very happy with this purchase. I highly recommend both machines.
You can’t fill up the tank in back without having water spill out the back. I have not found trick in two years. It is aesthetically pretty … but not practical as it doesn’t seem to make full 12 cups as most other standard coffee machines do.
