The product is great. Very easy to use. Few items that are negative is as follows. I wish the locking cable was a little longer. Hard to wrap around the frame due to short length. I have the 1.25” hitch and the bare doesnt do in to much. The saftey arm prevents me from pushing it into the hitch more. Would be better if the bar was longer so mor steel im hitch. But it does secure good. Overall im happy with the product.

Solid bike rack!

Just purchased and started using it for my road and gravel bike. It's rock solid, does not bobble or wobble at all when loaded with my two bikes (despite a couple of review vids I saw online). It was really easy to put together and get onto my 4Runner. I purchased this after using for years the 4-bike hitch rack that holds the bikes by the frame (which did just fine with no damage to my carbon frame race bikes). This one however is easier to use given the transport wheels and it's easier and much faster to get the bikes on and off. I chose this model as it folds up while hitched. I would have bought the higher end model if it had the ability to fold up which comes in handy when I don't feel like taking the rack off straight away post-use. Also part of this purchase were the base roof racks. On my 2nd set of those after over 10 years of use with a prior model! Thanks Thule!
Two things strike me as odd, coming from such a good company and fine product line: (1) missing parts - the rack arrived with missing washers; and, (2) the extension is wobbly - I ordered the 2” rack with a x2 bike extension (total carrying capacity is 4 bikes). The extension is only held in with two bolts, which allow it to produce a large wobble while driving; enough for me to constantly keep an eye on the bikes through the rear view mirror.

Thule T2 Pro XTR

Great Bike Rack, but I agree with one of the reviews regarding the front tire coming off the rack. The first time it happened I was going over a bridge on the Thruway and the front tire came out and I was dragging my front tire on the road. The second time was in Vermont going up a dirt road and the same thing happened. I now use a rubber tie strap around the front tire securing it down. It is an EMTB, weighing 55 lbs, so maybe that's the problem. I have a carbon frame, so only bike racks that touch the tires are acceptable.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Thule T2 Pro XTR. I am sorry to hear that your bike was not held securely by this rack. Based on conversations with our customer service team, it seems like removing an incompatible front fender and adjusting the front wheel hook position will resolve the issue. Because the bike is at the upper end of the compatible weight range for this product, removing the battery prior to mounting and removing any cargo racks or bags from the bike will also reduce wind resistance and movement that could lead to an insecure mount.
This rack replaced my old t2 classic which was 10 years old and I sold to a buddy. I thought it would be much better than it is but I got it on an industry discount deal so I can’t complain that much. I do like the ease of no tools installation into receiver hitch and the super easy to use handle and built in wheels to roll it in the driveway. I don’t like that it is built of a lot more plastic then my old t2. And I don’t like that you can’t lock down the arms to hold the hook on the wheel while locked like my old t2. The cable gizmo this rack uses seems like it could be cut with a cable cutter pretty easily. For what I spent on it I’m happy, but if I had spent full retail price I would be unhappy. So I’m giving my rating of 6 out of 10 stars

Poor security cable

I've used this rack twice. When I secured my bike and went to wrap the cable, the entire assembly came out in my hand. I didn't pull on it very hard but yet, the lock, cable, and spring came out of the bar. I can see that it was secured inside the bar with just a thin piece of plastic. Convenient design perhaps, but if a slight tug can break it, I don't trust it at all. I may be regretting this purchase.

This rack is a beast to assemble in my view. It will not raise and lower predictably and there is a scant instruction manual and no user manual at all. I am struggling to get the umbrella handle to move and this moment my bike is stuck on the rack until I figure it out. I have used several Thule racks for bikes and kayaks over the years and this rack was not a great choice for me, I am 100 percent frustrated. Once properly on, the bike is held securely.

I've been using my Thule T2 Pro rack for over 6 years. The rack has no wobble at the hitch and makes for a super smooth ride even with it fully loaded on rough accesses roads. I rarely take the rack off my truck so it is exposed to daily driving and the elements over 300days a year. Highly recommend this rack.
