The best got better

I've had earlier versions of the T2 before and this one takes the cake. The wheels are a nice touch, as it the ability to get 5" fat bike tires on there. It's rare I keep a bike rack on my vehicle full time, but with the ability to get my fat bike on here with no issues, it's worth it to keep it on.

Great bike rack

I have a small truck with a topper. Having bike pads between the gate and topper is a bit tight, and having roof racks on the topper is a bit high for loading and unloading, so these hitch racks are my preferred method. This one has no flaws that I've come across and is easy to use. It is on the heavier side but I'd prefer that not being sturdy enough. Fairly easy to setup if you get it shipped. It folds up nicely when not in use such that I don't have to take it off. Definitely recommend.

The Best Hitch-Mount rack

The Thule T2 Pro XTR has a couple advantages over the competition. The wheels make a huge difference moving the rack into position to install on your vehicle. Simply roll to the proper position behind your vehicle and lift to insert into the hitch. Racks this heavy duty weigh a lot.
The handle to lift and lower the rack is also much easier to use than the levers most companies use on their product.

Super Solid Hitch Rack

This rack is simply amazing!!!! It's the most solid rack I have ever purchased. The build quality is superb. The one-handed feature of raising and lowering the rack is the easiest I have used compared to the competition. Mounting bikes is super easy, and the hold on the bike is very solid. Money well spent on this product. Lives up to the Thule brand standard.

Thule T2 Pro XTR

Excellent product however there are a couple of issues regarding large tire bikes with fenders. The front tire arm does not tighten fully with bending fender. I worked around this by using a strap to secure bikes to rack.

Hello Matt,
I'm glad to hear the Thule T2 Pro XTR is working well for you! I should let you know that this bike rack is not certified as compatible for bikes with front fenders, since it prevents a solid attachment between the wheel hook and the front tire.
Thule recommends removing the fender to ensure a solid connection between the bike and the rack.

Still not happy, would K*** be better - more $$$$

Bought and assembled the Thule XTR. Assembly was fine, but caution - don't strip over over tighten the screws!
The Good:
- No tools to attach to your vehicle
- One Key System
- Wheels are a nice touch for easy moving around the garage floor to/from storage.
The Bad:
Compared to the "T2 Classic" I think it's called, this thing just seems less quality. More plastic, which I get, reduces some weight.
The biggest problem I have is the security/locks. I want a truly frameless touch rack, but the cable locks - because they are so short (as I now see in other reviews) force you to put a cable on/through what could be an expensive carbon frame (some of you might have custom bike paint jobs).
The cable is way too short and easily cut. The T2 Classic locked the front wheel arm - why did Thule go away from that design? Even writing this review was frustrating as I was only given a tiny little window on their website.
I'm NOT impressed for the money spent and it's just down right disappointing. I'm considering returning this rack and likely still on the hunt for a bike rack. Thule went down quite a bit in my ranking.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Thule T2 pro XTR. I'm sorry that it did not meet your expectations for Thule quality.
The cable lock on this model was designed to improve the overall security of the system. A cable lock secures the actual frame of the bike to the rack, preventing it from being removed via disassembly, given enough time. The cable lock also does not need to be installed via transit, only when the bike is stationary and unobserved for longer periods of time.

I would not recommend this bike rack for the price

I have been using the Thule T2 Pro XTR and I have some mixed thoughts about it. I wanted to like this bike rack but I am actually disappointed in the design and for the price, I thought that folks designing and engineering this rack would take into account some important considerations. First, why does the lever handle pull up? It's really awkward. If you have this bike on a truck and your not the tallest person in the world, you have to lift the lever up. We have another bike rack where the lever is level to the ground and you push it down. Another weird one is the rear wheel latch. Again, you pull the latch down and it doesn't leave very much tail to grab to secure it. I think the front wheel cup basket is poorly designed too and does not feel secure for MTB tires. There's a nice divet for road bike tires but the bikes seem to wobble, even though we follow the directions very well and have used bike racks like this for many, many years. Also, if you have truck, know that you cannot put you tail gate down without having to put the bike rack in the down position. This is really annoying for us as we get in and out of the truck shell often. It's really bulky. The wheels are completely unnecessarily. If we could return this rack we would have.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Thule T2 Pro XTR. I am sorry to hear it did not live up to your expectations.
The rack was designed to meet the needs of the widest range of users, both for their bikes and vehicles.
The pull handle allows the tilt mechanism of the Thule T2 Pro XTR to be accessed from the front of the rack without needing to work around the bikes.
It sounds like you may need to remove and reinsert the rear wheel holder straps to accommodate the wider tires. Directions on how to accomplish this is shown in the user manual.
The Thule T2 Pro XTR is compatible with mountain bike tires up to 5" in width, as long as the front wheel hook is properly secured to the wheel as close to the front fork as possible.
Unfortunately, you are correct - a truck liftgate will not be able to open with the bike rack and bikes installed. However, removing the bikes should allow you enough space to drop the tailgate.
