Bosch 800 Series Dishwasher

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced my older Bosch (20+ years) that was still working fairly well with a new 800 Series. The older unit was getting louder. Glad we made the switch because they improved several features and we love that we cannot hear it running. It cleans so well on the quick 60 minute cycle.

Not as good as model from 23 years ago

I just replaced a 23-year-old Bosch SHV-6803 custom panel dishwasher that finally died, and I must say that I don't think that this new model was an upgrade (though it certainly cost a lot more).
First, the old model allowed you to easily adjust the door tension (e.g., if the custom panel is slightly too light). With the new model a spring replacement is required to approximate the same result. Currently, while the door stays open if opened more than 45 degrees, it is a bit difficult to open, and it springs shut with enough force to be almost dangerous. I would certainly be nervous if I had small children who could get fingers caught in the door as it closes!
Next, the old model displayed a zero on the control panel at the end of the cycle so that anyone who opened the dishwasher would know if the machine was just run, and the dishes were clean. The new model lacks such a basic feature and requires that everyone install an app on their phone to receive notifications. The whole Wi-Fi connectivity is a gimmick in my opinion, and they should have just put a little more effort into a better control panel design.
While the new machine seems to clean on par with the old machine, the cycle run times are almost twice as long. Drying performance, even with Crystal Dry enabled (which adds another 1/2 hour to the run time), doesn't seem to live up to the hype either. I still find that many plastic items and some glasses (especially ones with idented areas) are wet at the end.
As far as loading goes, I like the third (silverware) rack in the new machine, but I liked the wine glass holder design of the middle rack of the previous machine better. The wine glass holders ran the full length of the rack and could be used as another level when loading smaller items.
Finally, the template that was included for attaching the panel during installation was not accurate. Despite being as careful as humanly possible, I found that the holes in the template did not align with the actual screw holes when mounting the panel on the diswasher door.
All-in-all, I expected better from such a premium-priced machine and am missing my old unit.

Works great

The unit works great but before you replace a previous unit measure all dimensions. This unit is at least an inch deeper so we had to move the outlet deeper and reposition the hoses further back in order to fit the unit in. Required additional carpentry

Missing Delayed Start

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this is a solid dishwasher. Cleans great, enjoy the 3rd shelf and the noise level is very quite. That said, it is missing some features I would have expected in a dishwasher of this cost.
1. No delayed start button. This one is infuriating. The button has been removed and now you are required to use the Bosch Home app if you wish to use this feature. WHY?!?!?!?
2. No light when finished - I enojy the RED light on the floor to show me that the unit is running, but how about a GREEN light to show me that it is clean?
3. Odd rack configuration - the angle of some of the tongs in the bottom rack just don't really make any sense or align with any dishes that I have.
Conclusion - this is a nice upgrade from the GE / Ikea dishwasher I previously had, but a few extra features would have gone a LONG way when you spend over $1000 on a dishwasher.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our remodel

We are almost done our renovation and am loving how large the loading area is. How it is whisper quiet and how clean all my dishes are. Thank you Bosch!

Concerning smell

We have had good experiences with Bosch dishwaashers in the past. This unit is brand new and the inside already smells bad, like stinky cheese, after the first use (and there is no food residue causing this).
