Poor Electrical Safety

I bought the CYNC hexagon panel set as a gift for my son, who wanted a gaming environment in his room. These hexagon panels are considerably expensive so after doing thorough research, I thought I was making a smart choice by investing in these GE panels, given their reputation for quality. I even bought strip lights and lamps for a complete package.
I’m not just a DIY novice and followed instructions exactly on mounting these, but I decided against using screws since we weren’t sure if the lights would stay or if a TV would go in the same spot. I also figured the sticky-backs would suffice in supporting the panels otherwise, why would they have been included in the package and

But, to my disappointment, the sticky-backs failed, and the entire set of panels fell within a couple of hours, damaging three connectors as they twisted around a coat rack mounted below. The connectors secure tightly in the back of the panels, but the flimsy wiring between can easily tear.
It’s incredibly frustrating to invest time and money in a reputable brand only to end up with a subpar product. When you do your homework and avoid cheap options, only to be let down by a well-known company, it makes you question why you even bother. Now I’m stuck with broken connectors and a mess, wondering if I can find replacements or if I should just return the whole set.

I just got these and the pads to stick to the wall aren’t sticky at all and the cords are very delicate and break very easily. Overall terrible product

Poor expansion. Don't buy if you want to expand!

I bought this as a starter kit with 7. They are fine. Or are they? I bought a 5 light expansion kit to add to it. Now I have a total of 12 hex tiles. The reason for 2 stars is the fact that exactly 5 have the the same hue of white, blue, red, green, ect. The other 7 have their own version of white, blue, red, green ect. They don't really match. It's obvious that 5 are the same and that 7 are the same. I should have 12 the same no matter the colour. If you want to expand, I recommend getting brand X. I am very disappointed that I have 2 whites, reds, ect.

Nice Lighting But Rough Installation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon getting the Cync Hexagon Panels, were very excited to get them installed and see what they could do in our entertainment space. The box came with an assortment of pieces to get them installed including a level, adhesive, screws, nails and template pieces.
We followed the directions thru the app and ran into an issue as soon as we had to stick the paper template to the textured drywall. We stuck the template to the wall and made sure everything was level as we went thru the steps. But, by the time we got to the end the paper template pieces started falling off the wall. Of course this gets frustrating as we had lined everything up and made sure it was all level. We ended up just using normal tape we had since the tape included wasn’t working.
We ran into more issues with the adhesive you are supposed to use to hold the hexagon panels on the wall. It would hold the panel up for a minute or so before pulling off the wall. But, the directions had a step you could follow in case you wanted to go with nails instead of the adhesive. Unfortunately, to go that route you have to be able to get the panel to stay on the wall while disconnecting the panel from the bracket. You aren’t able to do that when the bracket doesn’t stick to the wall so you end up pulling the entire unit off the wall.
The panels do require some effort to snap the linking cables in the slots and I found some I just couldn’t get connected in the output port that I wanted to use and had to switch panels around to make it work. We also figured out that the next light wouldn’t light up by itself when connected. We had to turn the lights off and on in the app for the next light to activate.
As for the lights themselves, I really do like the range of lights and the brightness that they put off. They have very nice light effects controlled thru the app and my kids especially like the 4th of July light effects as it switches from red to white to blue. Also, the fade effects used in the fireworks demo are really neat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Beautiful Lights !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Cync - E CYNC Dynamic Effects Full Color Smart Hexagon Panels are very nice and easy to setup and install. It works with Google and Alexia and even better is WIFI capable. I like that I can set these lights up and have a different color for each set. After setting them up I set up a custom light display and wow, it looks awesome. They are easily installed on any flat surface and will hold in place.
Everything I needed was enclosed in the very well packaged and great looking box. I have shown my neighbors the light setup in my TV room and they are blown away and even stated they would buy a set. I have no negative remarks because these Cync - E CYNC Dynamic Effects Full Color Smart Hexagon Panels are great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These full color, smart hexagon Panels, are really cool !! They are sturdy . They connect easily and you can make any design you want with them. They are very bright and vibrant and they can go in different colors. I can’t wait for my husband to complete putting these on the wall . We have an outlet on the walls with easy to install and they look great.!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think these CYNC Hexagon Light Panels are perfect for adding additional ambience to a room or area of the home when needed. The instruction book provided along with a QR code linking to the video, made it easy to walk through the instructions of setting these lights up. From downloading the app to understanding how to connect each light instructions for both were thorough in writing as well as visuals. The big issue I had with set up, was connecting the linking cables. While I feel, they should’ve snapped in easily from one light to the next I found this to be difficult and at times frustrating. That being said, you do want the connections to be secure so I tried to take this in stride. Layouts of the lights are provided, detailed instructions about mounting them to the wall as well as some tools to make sure that everything lines up well. Once together, the lighting affects are nothing short of amazing. Every color you could ever imagine can be displayed on these lights. There are lots of preset options to choose from or you can custom create your own. Each panel can be programmed separately to the color you want in the panel. It can even be divided into six segments if you choose. Color show presets and custom created can change with music because the control para control has a microphone on it. The sensitivity of the microphone is also customizable. I really do feel that there is a lot you can do with this and it’s nice they can all be controlled on the CYNC app which is also has your GE smart home devices. If you’re looking for a cool addition to a teenagers room, a college dorm, first apartment, or anywhere else you want some customizable ambience check out these CYNC panels.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a huge fan of lighting and have multiple kinds of smart switches/dimmers/bulbs/strips, and this is now probably my favorite. The LED tiles are super bright and have truly impressive and consistent colors! The big difference between this and other light tiles is that there are 6 color zones on each one so especially with some of the motion effects it looks way smoother moving across them compared to most tiles that jump from one color to the next. You can also control the specific segments or tiles in the app if you want to set them manually, and in reality you can only see probably 2 distinct colors per tile at once, but having the 6 color zones is what makes the movement impressively smooth.
The cync app does make it easy to set them up (lay out a pattern, walk through connecting 1 at a time, and set a location for where you're using them). Before attaching them to my wall I wanted to play with the patterns first and also make sure they worked as good as they look in the picture, and they do! My pictures are with them laying on a table to figure out my patterns so there is space between the tiles but when attaching to a wall they are tight together. The box comes with double stick tap or nails for attaching, layout templates, guides to make it easy and a little bubble level, everything needed. The only negative is connecting the cables between each tile is extremely difficult to snap in. I had to start by squeezing open the connection tabs as far as possible before putting in the cable on each port and that made it easier. My fingers were very sore by the time I got all 10 connected but that's a 1-time thing that is well worth it to have the super nice lights on the wall for a very long time.
I really recommend these as well as the other Dynamic Effects lights I've tried, they are certainly the high-end smart light products for home and rival professional quality!
