This is my second Accu rite weather station, but I wanted the lightning detector so I went ahead and bought it mounted it on the other side of my house and both units seem to agree quite nicely and the lightning detector function is perfect. It will pick up lightning up to 20 miles away hasn't failed me yet if I hear thunder I get a warning that there was lightning in the area and many times. The only reason I know there is lightning is because the dog is under the bed and then I look at the detector and sure enough there are strikes recorded companies.
Good value for the money. Works as described. Had a previous model for many years and it finally conked out. I like the newer version as it is more horizontal as opposed to vertical for sizing. It fits better under our cabinets. We purchased the basic model and love it
I bought this model because I wanted the lightning detection. It's winter and we have not had a thunderstorm yet. I'm curious to see how well the lightning detection will work. Everything seems to be working great so far. I'm happy with my purchase.
Nice unit with lightning detection. I wanted that because I am a Ham Radio operator with multiple outdoor antennas. My only gripe is the limited angle required to read the display. If you're not directly in front and a few degrees above, the display washes out.
1. Lightening sensor not working, even when yards from any elecric or electronic device. 2. Temperature reading does not seem accurate. 3. Dimming does not seem to be working.

Verify you are using new, brand name batteries in your station. Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.
Hard Reset -Bring outdoor sensor inside -Remove batteries from both units -Change the ABC switch -Place batteries in the sensor first -Place batteries in the display, let the two units sit side by side until you read outdoor information -Wait unit the units connect before placing them outside
I like the brightly lit display and the features. The only thing that I question is the accuracy of the sensor on the outside of the house. It seems to read a couple of degrees high to me.
