We apologize that your unit is experiencing this issue but we would be happy to assist! First, please make sure that you are using fresh batteries in both units, then perform the following reset. Please follow the steps carefully as the order is crucial to the success of the reset. Hard Reset: 1. Bring both the sensor and display unit together and remove batteries from the outdoor sensor. Make sure that the Wireless Reception Indicator on the display drops to zero bars to ensure that your display was connected to the correct sensor. NOTE: If your display unit continues to show a strong connection, there is another sensor in your area that your display is connecting to (either a neighbor's or from another of your AcuRite units). 2. Remove the batteries and/or power adapter from the display unit. 3. Reinstall the batteries in the outdoor sensor. 4. Once the batteries are inserted you should see the red LED light blink approx. every 30 seconds on the front of the sensor. The red LED light should NOT stay on continuously. 5. Reinstall batteries and/or power cord into the display unit. 6. Let the units sit within a couple of feet of each other for approximately 5 minutes or until you see a solid sensor signal.
I've been using Accurite thermometers for some years. I wanted one for my new house which had 3 sensors (outdoors, garage, basement), but the only one they offered was too rudimentary (only see one temp at a time, need to access the back to step through sensors so can't hang it on a wall, and not backlit), but this single-sensor unit, with backlit color display, internal temp and humidity, and barometric pressure, was too good a deal to pass up. The site wasn't clear on how the batteries and power cord connected, but it turns out it's a neat system. I wanted to put it on the wall and run from batteries, but even though they apparently show it being used that way, they don't recommend it - and even though it can be wall-mounted while powered, they don't provide any instructions on how to remove the standing base, which would be required. As it happens, I have a place on the microwave which works fine, and the unit has been very helpful (and attractive) since I set it up - particularly the internal humidity, which has informed me that I don't yet need to start up my humidifier. It's very helpful that you can set the dimming level; after using it at 70% for some time, I've switched to 30%, and that's even better.
