I love this crane

I have 6 of the Lego cranes and this is my absolute favorite. It was fun to put together and testing after each step was nice.

Love this set

This set is huge, the features are on par with real Liebherr cranes and the rigging is done similarly as well. It's super satisfying once all completed and I would highly recommend. I understand the price is high, but when you compare to other sets at this price point you'll see that this set is actually capable of moving and functioning under its own power unlike many others.

This one will challenge you
on August 14, 2023

I consider myself an expert builder, as I've built all the large Technic, Star Wars and Harry Potter sets. The Liebherr, however, is in a different league. It's not so much the complexity of the build, but you've really got pay close attention - super close attention - or you will end up with sore fingers as you try and go back and fix your mistake. It was a fun challenge, but there were a few moments were it did border on frustration. One of those had to be the first set of cabling (thread): the video was helpful, but moves a little too fast (note, too, the perspective of the video is from a distance, so it's hard to see which rung you need to run the thread over). I eventually figured it out, and the other steps involving cabling weren't as bad; still, it was frustrating. Also, the "Check Your Build" steps are nice, but they don't really indicate the amount of variability in what your model will look versus what is shown in the app (some bits of model were sagging/otherwise not perfectly straight as shown in app, so thought I'd done something wrong). Finally, the counterweights need to be secured: whenever you slightly move the crane they fall off -- this is really frustrating. Ultimately, I think this is a great set -- and a very big set, too (it dwarfs the Star Wars ATAT). Is it worth the high price? If you're a devoted LEGO fan, especially of large sets, I think you'll enjoy it. But this is most certainly not one for the meek!

Challenge!
on August 19, 2023
Posted by: Blueyes0817
I bought this for my husband he never has problems building lego's but this one was a challenge for him. He said the directions were all over the place he had to take it apart acouple of times and after 2 weeks of taking it apart and putting it back together it's finely done. It's a large crane and I hope he enjoys it!

1. Inadequate pictures - need to show lots more 1:1 images
2. Also need to show more “outline” of where pieces go - makes it more difficult than it needs to be

Liebherr Crane LR13000
on January 2, 2024

This was an awesome build. Took be 41 days working on it about an hour a day. Definitely a challenge for the most advanced builder. A previous review I read said 18+ means over 18 years of Lego building experience. I agree. The six motors and 2 motor control centers are well engineered with safety features to keep everything stable. Bluetooth connection to phone for control works well. My only request is that the instructions for Operation of the finished build are lacking. There are many features on the control panel that are difficult to learn/understand. Need some help here.

finally something unique
on September 7, 2023

Contrary to the negative reviews mentioning that this set was missing all the gearing intricacies, I found this set to be finally something new from LEGO. I skipped so many large sets recently because I knew it would just be gearbox after gearbox after gearbox that I’ve built countless times, so this pulley system is not only fresh but it’s also teaching my kids something new when they observe this thing in action. Also most of the mechanics are on display instead of being hidden inside the model it’s just cool to see it all tick. My only criticism is that the ballast pieces were definitely odd; no studs, no holes, no beam integration… literally just chunks of plastic. No versatility to the pieces so I’m not sure what happened there in the design decision room. Also the last string of cordage that you need to rout may make you want to hang yourself with it instead but once you get through it… all worth it.

Great Build!

I was somewhat reluctant to spend so much money on this set. I know a lot of people judge the value of a set by piece count vs cost. It's expensive if you look at it that way. But I think some other factors come into play. There are 2 hubs and 6 motors. Quite a few by any standard. Also there are some new pieces included in this set. The build was challenging but still fun. I would recommend this set to anyone.
