Big set with big expectations
on January 21, 2024

I have to admit when I first thought to buy this set I was torn between my love of heavy movers specifically cranes and the value of this set at such a high price for a low part count, but now that it’s home and put together and seen for the first time. It looks incredible and plays just the same. The shear size alone is impressive one of the largest techinc models I own, but the full functionality, payload, and playability easily make it worth the money. The use of the Lego control app has a big impact on the playability. Other fully functioning cranes tie you to the set, forcing you to switch gears to change functions. The added motors and single set of controls operated by Bluetooth give you full remote control flexibility without switching gears. Package this playability into a set that was fun to build and looks like a finished real world model throws my concern about value right out the door. An impressive model whose value lies in the enjoyment you have once you put it together.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] .. it does not look like the original Liebherr at all.
.. it it way too expensive.
I got this gifted and would never spend so much money on only 2.5k pieces. I feel guilty that my friend spend this much money.
Inflation and all, this is waaaay over the top.

Title does not fit the build

I wish I had not preordered this one. I assumed it would be the usual Lego quality, it was not. It did not live up to the 2 yr wait for release. I was most shocked by the price for what was actually received. I doubt LIEBHERR will be very impressed after seeing the reviews for this kit. If you just have to have it go ahead. If your on the fence, jump and run to something else.

1. Inadequate pictures - need to show lots more 1:1 images
2. Also need to show more “outline” of where pieces go - makes it more difficult than it needs to be

how do you give zero stars?

To Lego and Liebherr:
The set misses most of the essence of Technic having a series of motors is great, but there are barely any of the connection and gearing intricacies that make good Technic sets great. No cleverness in the functions.
It looks awful from any angle other than the judiciously chosen marketing shot ones. It's just unfinished. The whole point of panels is to cover things up; whether this is desirable or not is another question, but if a set uses them, then cover up battery packs etc. This besides the pointless and ugly unnecessary colors used (blue pins etc).
Outrageously expensive. Few parts, low weight (apart from the counterweights), the chassis and tracks look very different from the real version.
The counterweights don't have any studs or antistuds, arguably making them not Lego.
both companies should be ashamed.
To 3, 4 and 5 star reviewers: can I have some of what you're smking?

Love this set

This set is huge, the features are on par with real Liebherr cranes and the rigging is done similarly as well. It's super satisfying once all completed and I would highly recommend. I understand the price is high, but when you compare to other sets at this price point you'll see that this set is actually capable of moving and functioning under its own power unlike many others.

This one will challenge you
on August 14, 2023

I consider myself an expert builder, as I've built all the large Technic, Star Wars and Harry Potter sets. The Liebherr, however, is in a different league. It's not so much the complexity of the build, but you've really got pay close attention - super close attention - or you will end up with sore fingers as you try and go back and fix your mistake. It was a fun challenge, but there were a few moments were it did border on frustration. One of those had to be the first set of cabling (thread): the video was helpful, but moves a little too fast (note, too, the perspective of the video is from a distance, so it's hard to see which rung you need to run the thread over). I eventually figured it out, and the other steps involving cabling weren't as bad; still, it was frustrating. Also, the "Check Your Build" steps are nice, but they don't really indicate the amount of variability in what your model will look versus what is shown in the app (some bits of model were sagging/otherwise not perfectly straight as shown in app, so thought I'd done something wrong). Finally, the counterweights need to be secured: whenever you slightly move the crane they fall off -- this is really frustrating. Ultimately, I think this is a great set -- and a very big set, too (it dwarfs the Star Wars ATAT). Is it worth the high price? If you're a devoted LEGO fan, especially of large sets, I think you'll enjoy it. But this is most certainly not one for the meek!

Challenge!
on August 19, 2023

I bought this for my husband he never has problems building lego's but this one was a challenge for him. He said the directions were all over the place he had to take it apart acouple of times and after 2 weeks of taking it apart and putting it back together it's finely done. It's a large crane and I hope he enjoys it!

Thanks for letting us know how much fun your husband had completing the set. We’re always looking to make improvements in future building experiences, so if there's ever directions that are unclear, let us know at LEGO.build/Service-BV.
