Amazing little lego set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for my son who loves sonic, he absolutely loves this set, he actually will sit there and follow all the directions to build it correctly, and loves playing with sonic and trying to make his own sound effects, he tries to keep it together but his younger brother likes to take it back a part, and he just get his instructions back out and fixes it and makes up his own little fighting scenes, he absolutely loves this,
I would recommend this to a friend!

A great looking set with both Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman with his classic Death Egg Robot that has been featured in many games. I was also surprised to see Cubot in this set, but I don't think I've seen Orbot in any of the sets, unless I'm missing him somewhere.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Let's start off with the positives. As someone who is a fan of the Sonic franchise, this is a very accurate depiction of one of the more recognizable mechs in the games and with the proper play features.* The build is solid and easy to follow. I appreciate the amount of side builds (ramp, spikes, research center) that add to the environment and offer more options for play with the Speed Sphere. It only makes me wish for a few more accessories, perhaps a trail of rings to run down instead of only one. And while it's not included in the set, the Speed Sphere works well with enemy robots (Badnicks) from other sets to knock them over and free the animals captured inside.
*so what's the issue? In my copy of the set, purchased in late January 2024, the instructions told me on page 30 that the first thing I remove from the Bag 3 were 2 animals. Those animals were NOT in Bag 3. Instead, they were packaged with Bag 5. I have built hundreds of LEGO sets in recent years, and I have never seen an error like this before. I corroborated with someone else who built the set in early January 2024. In their copy, there was no issue in the instructions.
The second issue I came across was in the right arm of the mech. On the front and back of the box, as well as product images, there are graphics shown around the right claw hand, indicating it can rotate. In the construction of the model, the claw had cannot rotate, only the cuffs. There is an easy way to fix it but that requires extra parts beyond the set and some firsthand LEGO building knowledge from other past sets.
All in all a great experience and a fun set to play with, just a few misleading yet minor details that I have never encountered from LEGO before, but I don't expect will happen again or with every copy of the set.

The only nit pick i have about this set is that the lid of the death egg does not match the games and the price is pretty steep.

Hours of fun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son absolutely loves Sonic and he loves Legos, so this was a no brainer, the joy on his face when i gave it to him made my heart melt. He spent hours playing with his sisters, I mean this really held their attention, it's well made, the colors are vibrant and it supplys hours of fun.

Really wanted to like it

I have been a Sonic fan since before it was released (I saw it at an Electronics convention). I was happy when the Ideas set came out - it was a great representation of the Green Hill Zone in Lego. I bought all the sets that came out before July. This set was probably the most disappointing.
The good parts: Sonic, Dr Eggman.
The bad: The Mech and the animal thing (starts on page 25). The Mech goes together OK, but to me looks a bit clunky. The animal dome thing is the most frustrating. In step 4, you put the 2 red slopes on the 2 studs on the piece. Then, when you go to step 9, you build the cover over the animal and add it in, there is nothing to hold the piece that holds the cover, and the cover does not fit! I am tempted to swap in a black 1x4 so the darn thing stays. The cover is just a lost cause to me.
The only reason that I would recommend this to someone with kids the right age. They may ignore these things and enjoy playing with them. Those 2 things just rubbed me the wrong way.

On p 29, how can u attach the piece when it is flat from step 7 and 8？ should use 1x4.
