I use the 5 in1 at home. I love the colour display & features, weather trends + the weather data history. It's reliable with an easy to see display which makes for easy checking up on weather conditions. It's very hard to find fault with this unit but there are 2 things I'd like to address; 1) I would like the dimmer feature to be even darker at night, it is still very bright, even at it's lowest setting, bright enough to see where I'm going in our living room! 2) When there is lightning detected even if it's a false reading, the orange "listen" mode warning stays on & I don't know how to reset it or remove it after lightning has been detected. It takes a few days before the orange indicator goes away? When there's no active lightning weather I'd like the orange warning indicator to go out much sooner, otherwise this is a great weather station!
I bought this bundle as it does have rainfall rate, which is something I wanted. But it will not read other Acurite sensors, only lightening. No reading of any other available sensors.
I have two 5-in-1 and two Atlas weather stations, all with lightning detection. I am generally pleased with them so I purchased this one for a Christmas gift. I'm sure they will register it after Christmas.
Hail destroyed my previous weather station so it was time to get another. I went with the same 5 in 1 station but got the black high display this time. The display didn't work but the customer service was quick to do the process and send me another which does work. I like the darker screen better than my previous color one. Even though the color display can be dimmed a little, it reverts back to bright. So if it is anywhere near a bed it keeps some people up who want complete darkness. I do prefer the color display having a battery backup though when power goes out (I live off-grid). The high def display doesn't have that. But as long as the outage isn't too long the settings are saved. I've used AcuRite stations for a couple decades and I'm sure I'll buy another in a few years when this one gets destroyed by large hail stones.
It us easy to use. We live about a 100' from the lake. The wind is my concern. I probably fixate on it too much but it is really nice to know the wind velocity. It us usually less than I think which is comforting. I have thought about getting another one and use only the display. We live on the porch overlooking the lake so the display is on the porch. Wound be nice yo have one inside as well. It is a great tool.
