My husband and I love our AcuRite unit. It is very accurate. Setup is very easy. The screen is very clear and easy to read This is the second AcuRite unit I've had. The first one was too close to my flag pole and the flag broke one of the wind cups off.
The anemometer seems to undermeasure the wind speed. We've had some significant windy days when your own eyes tell you that there are gusts in the upper 20s to low 30s mph range yet the most the unit seems to register is upper teens. And yes I mounted the device atop a ten foot post in an unobstructed area. The cups appear to be spinning quickly and freely but still.

Nice unit, but...

I like this unit, I purchased 2 displays, one for my home office, the other for bedroom. The mounting bracket for the 5 in 1 sensor could have more than a perpendicular or 90 degree increment rotations. That does not allow mounting on a slanted surface. Simple redesign would be easy and helpful. The display unit can only operate off of AC/110 volt. Wish they had provided a USB power cord, is that possible? I need a weather station at my cabin, but it is totally off grid, be nice to be able to plug into my Goal Zero Yeti 400 to power display. Please advise... I have several different Acurite weather stations, please assist with USB power cord. Thanks
Dad had an older molder and the rain gauge stopped working. Fixed it twice but I live out of town. Bought him a newer model for Christmas and installed it. He won't stop checking it....mission accomplished!
I have personally had two AR 5-1 models. I like them enough I bought a third one to give as a Christmas present for a friend this year. I personally won't know if he enjoys it for the next number of months... but I enjoy mine. I do have a suggestion. Why don't you include a small compass on the top of the unit to help point it north. It would make set up a lot easier.
